  • Freaky
We continue Body Swap December with a look at one of the few new films to actually come out of 2020: Freaky. Coincidentally also a body swap film, it follows Kathryn Newton as a nebbish high schooler who accidentally swaps bodies with a local serial killer hellbent on staying in her body forever. Originally titled Freaky Friday the 13th, it's a mash-up of every body swap trope imaginably plus a heavy-handed dash of horror fan service to boot. Scary Stories We Tell's Jess Byard and The Projection Booth's Mike White joins Chris to talk about the film, the state of horror in 2020, and its similarities to other Blumhouse films.

You can follow Chris Stachiw at @Casualty_Chris and the Kulturecast @kulturecast. The music is Tigerblood Jewel's The Bayou. You can also subscribe to the Kulturecast on iTunes here. • Vice Versa
We continue Body Swap December with a film starring two of the biggest names in the '80s as another father/son duo who swap bodies, this time with a large age difference between the two: Vice Versa. Starring Judge Reinhold and Fred Savage, the pair are a father and son who swaps bodies due to magical occurrences and must find out how to switch back while also living each other's lives. It's Like Father Like Son but with more charismatic leads and less hair metal. On Seagal's Trevor Gumbel joins Chris to talk about his history with the film, the two leads, and some alarming comedic scenarios.

  • Mr. Go
If you're expecting a film about a gorilla that plays baseball to be a light-hearted romp in the vein of Airbud, think again folks because Mr. Go has more to offer than a few guffaws. Starring Sung Dong-il and Xu Jiao, it's a tonally mismatched tale of a gorilla, the girl who teaches him baseball, and the manager who exploits them both. It's not your typical animal playing sports film, not at all. Award-winning director Maggie the Odd joins Chris to talk about the film, it's comparison to other sports films, and it's tonal problems.

Starring the aforementioned duo, they get body swapped through a magical bottle of hot sauce and must figure out a way to swap back and grow as father and son. It's the first in a long line of '80s body swap films featuring icons of the decade. We end Fantasy Film November with one of the greatest film trilogies of all time, not just in the fantasy genre: The Lord of the Rings. Starring one of the greatest ensemble casts ever; the trilogy follows the adventures of Frodo Baggins as he and the rest of the Fellowship attempt to thwart the dark lord Sauron from taking over Middle Earth. Not only is the trilogy a technical masterpiece, but it also manages to adapt one of literature's most famous tales. The Projection Booth Podcast's Mike White, Scary Stories We Tell's Jess Byard, and actor John Noble (Denethor) join Chris to talk about the three films and their place in film history along with all the memes.

  • Legend (1985)
We near the end of Fantasy Film November with one of Tom Cruise's early efforts where he is completely overshadowed by one of the greatest living actors of all time, Tim Curry: Legend. Starring the aforementioned Cruise and Curry, the film follows Cruise as Jack, a woodland fairy tasked with saving a princess and the world from Curry's menacing yet charismatic Darkness. The film is remembered for Curry's performance and the amazing makeup by Rob Bottin and little else, unfortunately. On Seagal's Trevor Gumbel and Dark Destination's Father Malone join Chris to talk about Ridley Scott's filmography, Tim Curry's performance, and the idea of a "director's cut"

  • Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
We continue Fantasy Film November with a Disney film that not only happens to be a fantasy film but also based on one of the most important video games of all time: Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Starring Jake Gyllenhaal as the titular character who must save his kingdom from a threat from within that could destroy the entire world through the use of the Sands of Time. It's not the worst video game movie ever made, but it's definitely not the best. We Played This Podcast's Tim Henton joins Chris from across the pond to talk about the film, it's ranking as a video game movie, and whether it's really that bad.

  • Babe: Pig in the City
We continue Fantasy Film November with a sequel to the original Babe that shirks all conventions of typical sequels by going completely off the wall and putting the titular pig in the big city in Babe: Pig in the City. Starring a boatload of talented voice actors, it follows Babe as he is transplanted to the city due to unfortunate circumstances and must figure out a way to save the family farm. It's not at all what you're expecting in the best way possible. The Projection Booth's Mike White joins Chris to talk about the film, why it took so long for them to watch it, and its designation as a modern "cult classic".
