Washington State Rep. Travis Coutoure (R-Allyn) joins KVI's John Carlson to discuss community concerns in Tenino and the south Puget Sound over a planned sex-offender half-way house. Coutoure reports that Thurston County officials have issued a cease-and-desist order on the company set to operate the proposed facility in Tenino. Neighbors in Tenino objected to the facility after they were given very short notice earlier this month that it was set to open to convicted sex-offenders from the McNeil Island Penitentiary while they serve out the remainder of the state required supervision. The convicted sex-offenders are classified as Level 3 which is the state's most likely to re-offend.

Democrats in the Washington Legislature are proposing a bill that would establish a domestic extremist commission. HB 1333 is apparently intended to prevent "well connected extremist networks" in the Pacific Northwest that are able to raise money for bail funds if a member is arrested, according to the associate director of the Anti-Defamation League, Emily Kaufman, who testified recently to a House committee in Olympia. A little known State Representative from Whatcom County is pushing back on a powerful State Senator, Manka Dhingra (D-Redmond), regarding the status of the Washington police pursuit law. St. Rep. Alicia Rule (D-Blaine) has issued a letter to her Legislative colleagues that refutes a claim Dhingra has made for justification of restrictions on when police and law enforcement can chase a criminal suspect in a vehicle. KVI's John Carlson examines the letter Rule has written in response to Dhingra's defense of the current police pursuit restrictions. Dhingra has been at the center of a controversy regarding the police pursuit law. Earlier this month, Dhingra stated she would not conduct a hearing on a bi-partisan bill in the Senate Law and Justice Committee that she chairs that would provide more circumstances for when police can pursue criminal suspects via car chase. The bill was requested by numerous law enforcement officials and mayors accros Washington who say that the current police pursuit law is too restrictive and gives criminals more incentive to flee police.

Jay Inslee was advised by the King County Health Department point person on COVID that the COVID-19 shot would not preclude COVID infection for people who received the shot. Public records, according to Hoffman, show that Inslee decided to impose the vaccine requirement on state employees despite this warning about transmisability which lead to hundreds of employees losing their jobs and putting major departments like Washington State Patrol, Ferries, and the Department of Transportation into employee shortages which prevented normal services from being provided for Washington taxpayers.
