GUEST: Bellevue City Councilman running for re-election, Jared Nieuwenhuis (the current Deputy Mayor), examines a pre-filed bill for the Washington Legislative session, HB 1025, which seeks to eliminate qualified immunity for police officers. Nieuwenhuis says if HB 1025 passes it would result in fewer police, less enforcement, and more crime. Statistics show recipients of the bail fund are more likely to skip future court appearances and be arrested for other crimes while out on bail than non-recipients.
