  • #81: B&E Art Direction at The Martin Agency w/Allison Farrell
Allison Farrell is a Virginia Commonwealth University recent graduate and Social Creative Resident at The Martin Agency's new Social Lab. She is a part of a multidimensional team that moves nimbly across multiple client social asks.
Her academic career drew attention from recruiters from The Martin Agency, as she was one of the few founders of Camp Adventure. Camp Adventure is a summer internship/work opportunity for advertising students. This idea was crucial mid pandemic when agencies had no clue how to adapt their internship programs.
We talk about her inspirations, story, advice and what it's like working at a creative powerhouse agency all on this B&E episode.

  • #80: B&E Culture-Shifting Creative w/Claire Zimmerman @TBWA\Chiat\Day LA
Claire Zimmerman hacked Cannes in 2018.
With some minor fear and uncertainty, she and some friends sent an unsolicited airdrop to start the conversation about the Me Too Movement at a then silent Cannes Festival. It leads to this site: https://unsolicitedairdrop.com/
In just the 5 days they were there for Cannes Lions, their site had 200+ unique visitors from 15 different countries--and they're still rolling in. The total is now at 39 countries worldwide through purely organic sharing while addressing a critical issue in the communication space.
Today, she is a Senior Art Director at TBWA\Chiat Day and creates culture-shifting work for global brands like Nike, Panera and Mountain Dew.

Breaking into advertising is no easy task. It takes skill, knowledge, passion and sometimes sheer luck.

This is what Natalie Alcide has done. She is an art director at Grey Group in New York City. What started with a love for photography, she realized that her ability to identify exciting aesthetics led her to stumble into advertising.
Natalie's an art director attempting to break the ordinary.

  • #76: B&E w/Bianca Guimaraes & Kevin Mulroy, ECD's at Mischief
Kevin Mulroy and Bianca Guimaraes are Co-Executive Creative Directors at Mischief at No Fixed Address and the most recent guests on the Breaking & Entering Podcast. Both are incredibly talented and well accomplished in their careers, showing no signs of letting up. If you add up their combined advertising award count, you will reach a number I didn't attempt to get to because it's so high.
They graciously spoke with me to explain how they broke into advertising, their most powerful lessons, their biggest mistakes, and most proud of in their careers. I was nervous because they created work that I wrote an essay on back at the University of Illinois.
Mischief seems to be a great work environment, and with them at the top, I am confident Mischief will continue to make headlines.
