The first landmark on our map is 1492: The End of the Reconquista. Within the generational model, it is no coincidence that a key period of exploration begins as the Fourth Turning ends - that the two are closely tied together. It's real use here, of course, is a key date that will easily be remembered, but not in the usual way.
