  • QOD-016: Victor Kiam – Entrepreneurs see no difference between obstacle and opportunity

    Victor Kiam
Today's Quote is from Victor Kiam. I remember Victor Kiam from back in the 80's doing TV adds for Remington Razor. Kiam is the man that loved Remington Razors so much he bought the company. He was one of the first CEO's to go on the air doing commercials for his own product.
    An American Entrepreneur
Victor Kiam was an American entrepreneur, the owner of the New England Patriots, an author of several books on

Entrepreneurship such as Going for It!: How to Succeed as an Entrepreneur, Keep Going for It!: Living the Life of an

    Entrepreneur, Live to Win.

He WAS an Entreprenuer's Entreprenuer his quote embodies the true spirit of Entrepreneurship in my opinion.

    [app_audio src="http://traffic.libsyn.com/goalgettingpodcast/Kiam-Entrepreneurs_know_no_differenceQOD16.mp3"]
Entrepreneurs are simply those that who understand that there is little difference between obstacles and opportunity and are able to turn both to their advantage."

    - Victor Kiam

    Wisdom for Entrepreneurs
Wow, What wisdom there is in that quote. We have been talking about opportunity for the last few days and this really says it all. If you are an entrepreneur, this should be hanging on your wall.

People often think about obstacles as something to avoid, or steer clear of, or a hindrance to our success.

Victor Kiam believed that if you were an Entrepreneur, you knew there wasn't a difference between an obstacle and an opportunity because you were able to turn either one to your advantage.

Thanks Victor for leaving such great a great inspirational lesson for entrepreneurs about opportunity. I can see why

Richard Branson had this as one of his top 10.

  • QOD-015: Churchill – A pessimist sees difficulty, an optimist opportunity . .
    Winston Churchill
It's Goal Getting Quote of the Day time! Hi, this is Tony Woodall, your host for Goal Getting Podcast and the Goal Getting  Quote of the Day. I hope you are enjoying these quotes. I enjoy finding good quotes that get to me and mean something. A good quote can help keep you motivated and inspire us to Get The Goals We Set!
    Increase Your Income

She is a Goal Getter and is dedicated to taking the action steps we set up to take her to the next level. Part of getting your goals is staying motivated and inspired! When you know your Why, you can stay motivated. When you hear a great quote, you can get and stay inspired.
    Richard Branson
Today's Quote of the Day is another in our Opportunity Series. I started sharing the top 10 Quotes on Opportunity that Richard Branson loves. Richard Branson inspires me. He is a philanthropist, entrepreneur and a humanitarian. A man that when he is offered an amazing opportunity, he says YES, even though he may not know how to do it. As he says, he can learn to do it later. That belief is evident in the many goals he has achieved with his Virgin brands.
    Churchill says
    [app_audio src="http://traffic.libsyn.com/goalgettingpodcast/Winston_Churchill_-_Pessimist_versus_Optimist.mp3"]
Winston Churchill is the person that has offered this quote:
"A Pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an Optimist see the opportunity in every difficulty."
A very profound quote, it talks about the quintessential battle between optimism and pessimism! What is a difficulty and what is an opportunity. Another man's trash is another man's treasure. Half-Full versus Half-empty.

Well they are one in the same. Difficulty breeds opportunity. So many of the things we have today are here because someone had a difficulty. The sad part is, we many have seen that difficulty, watched the people with the difficulty, may have even had that difficulty ourselves. Yet, we just acknowledged it being difficult or complained about it. Someone saw the difficulty and saw, then created the solution. They took the Opportunity to Act and Create and Solve the difficulty.

    They Are Rich!
Now, today, we are better off, we have less or no difficulty in that area at all. We are content. THEY ARE RICH!

How do you see Difficulty? Do you see the opportunity in every difficulty?

    OR

Do you just see the difficulty in everything.

Don't be pessimistic or optimistic - Be Opportunistic!

Create opportunity where there is difficulty. Create Wealth!

    Create something Good!

  • QOD-014: Chinese Proverb – Teachers open the doors . . .
    Chinese Proverb
This proverb, speaks a lot of truth. Good Teachers are important to us. They can help shape our lives. They can also be detrimental to our lives, like any authority figure.

They teach us!                                      They instruct us!                                   They guide us!
Teachers open the doors, but you must enter by yourself. -- Chinese Proverb
    [app_audio src="http://traffic.libsyn.com/goalgettingpodcast/QOD14-Teachers_Open_Doors.mp3"]

But, They Don't Do Stuff for Us. Nor should they.  It is up to use to enter the doors they open for us.

This Quote of the Day is part of the Opportunity Theme shared by Richard Branson. What do teachers opening doors have to do with opportunity? Haven't you ever heard the saying, "Opportunity Knocks"?

There are thousands of quotes and sayings about what to do when opportunity knocks. But this quote doesn't talk about opportunity coming to knock at your door, or you knocking at opportunity's door.  This quote is telling you that Teachers OPEN THE DOOR FOR YOU! It also let's you know that you must enter by yourself. Know one can make you cross the threshold.

I've had many teachers through the years, in elementary, high school, college, martial arts and other areas. All have taught me great things. However, none of them have taken me through the door. I had to enter on my own and with the lessons I learned, apply them to get to where I am today.

Do you go through the doors that your teachers have open?  Or do you just sit on the couch and look out the open door and wonder what it would be like to walk through the door

  • QOD-013: McNaught – If you don't play, you can't win. . .

    Judith McNaught
    Hello Goal Getters!
We're here today on our Quote of the Day to help you Stay Motivated and Get Inspired. I do that by listening to those that have done what I want to do.  I also love quotes and I wanted to share some motivating and inspirational quotes from people that have motivated and inspired me.

Today's Quote of the day is following on our Opportunity Theme. Richard Branson shared his 10 favorite quotes on
opportunity and I am sharing them with you.

Judith McNaught is not someone I knew before I saw this quote that Richard Branson shared. Judith McNaught is a New York Times Best Selling Author! As an author with an eBook on Amazon.com, I know this is a great accomplishment. I think that is important to know when you listen to Judith's Quote.  She is an Opportunity seeker and a person of action. You have to be to get on the New York Times Best Seller List.

    [app_audio src="http://traffic.libsyn.com/goalgettingpodcast/QOD13-Judith_McNaught-In_it_to_win_it.mp3"]

    Judith tells us:
You can't outwit fate by standing on the sidelines placing little side bets about the outcome of life - If you don't play you can't win."
Do you know any of those people that just sit or stand around watching while others are doing things. They stand on the sidelines of your life, placing wagers,
"Oh, he'll never do that, he's too old. I bet he fails."
"What does she know about that, I bet she fall on her face."

Do you do that to yourself. Do you get ready to call someone to set up an appointment to show them your product and then say to yourself,

"I bet they won't be interested. I shouldn't even bother calling."  "Oh, I bet I will mess up this deal."
    Don't Listen to Them
First, Don't listen to those people! And, more importantly Don't listen to you! Don't let your own mind place those side bets.

I loved to watch the TV Show "In It To Win It" with Guy Fieri. The catch phrase was "You Gotta Be In it To Win It!"
and that is what Judith is saying in this quote.
You Gotta Be In It To Win It! was the phrase used by Guy Fieri on the TV Game Show - In It To Win It.
Be In It To Win It
If you want to win, you have to play. Placing the side bets that stop you from acting on your goals will not make you

successful at that you want to do. If you want to Win, You have to Play first. Get out there on the field, Do the things that it takes to Win and You Will WIN!

I hope this quote will inspire you to keep playing and working on your goals.  Don't stand on the sidelines. Play and Play to Win.

Go out today, Be In It to Win It, If you don't play, you can't win. Leave the sidelines for your cheerleaders and the photographers. Be in the Game!
