In Episode 12, I delve into:
(1:38) Ok the title is striking, right? A little too terse for my taste. I was just Googling some stuff for the title, and THAT CAME UP AS A RECOMMENDED SEARCH! How many people are Googling that? TOO MANY.(2:12) But this episode is not just for people who call themselves “fat.” It is for anyone who feels like they are stuck in a rut and have no clothes they fit in or want to wear. (2:23) My story is this: In the last 6 years, I have fluctuated all over the place in weight. I’ve been pregnant and in the postpartum stage 3 times each. I buy a new swimsuit every year because my body isn’t the same as last summer. And my bra sizes are ALL OVER THE PLACE. I’m smaller busted now than I have ever been. And that’s hard. Things are loose in one area and tight in another. A shirt I was so excited about last year doesn’t work on my new body at all. All this time, shopping and trying stuff on and returning, AGH my brain just can’t take it! (3:16) And on top of that, I hear all these other messages bombarding me. Most aren’t even about ME, but people commenting about how FAT THEY ARE(3:36) I’m tired of people talking about how fat they are! For one thing, YOU ARE NOT FAT! YOU ARE A HUMAN, NOT FAT! And maybe our body is larger than it once was. Does it mean we get to hate our bodies? Complain about them? Look away from them? Be ashamed of them? NO! All this negativity is NOT HELPING US FEEL BETTER.(4:07) It affects me! It affects my daughters, my husband, STOP TALKING ABOUT IT. DO NOT EVER CALL YOURSELF FAT AGAIN. EVER. PROMISE ME! I’ll be in your head, listening, I’ll catch you if you ever even think it. NEVER NEVER NEVER.(4:45) This is the problem: We start off by not liking our bodies, which leads to not liking the clothes available to us and “Mall Meltdowns.”(5:11) We are not going to live like this anymore! No matter how small or big our bodies are or were or will be! Stand up and say, I’m not letting this make me feel bad ANY MORE. SAY IT!(5:36) “But!” you brain says. Your whimpering inner-self starts to raise a finger and say, “But wait…” NO. STOP TALKING! NO! NOT LISTENING TO YOU! Time to crush the doubts, literally stomp on them.(5:56) Everyone, do this with me. Imagine your doubts are on your heart. They are little black squirmy things that are kind of cute, but totally poisonous. Reach to your heart, GRAB THOSE LITTLE DOUBTS! They are squi
