In this fantastic episode me and Nadjah O. Art Historian, Archivist and fellow podcaster joins me to talk about Jenny Odell's incredible book "How to do Nothing. Resisting the attention economy".
It was a wonderful chat on the lies of productivity, social media, brands and how work and capitalism are in dire need of being destroyed! Do check out and support Nadjah's work if you can!

Hello everyone!! Today we have an incredibly interesting and in-depth episode on imperialism, poetry and capitalism as we delve into and through Dominick Knowles and Mathilda Cullen's recently launched poetry book "stanzas for four hands: an ophanim"! A really good conversation on imagination, creating and writing poetry, and how this "business" or dimension in the US has been so controlled and dominated by private enterprises and their money. Hello everyone! Hope you're doing okay in these times! This week, due to some personal issues I could not prepare a larger episode which was an excellent collab and should be up soon. In the mean time, though, not wanting to leave a gap, I talked a bit about the Scifi market in Brazil, its limitations and lack of diversity, along with the obnoxious focus on dystopias to boot. Adding to it, I talk some more about my issues with them and how there's a lot more interesting Scifi than that that already exists! So a good time coalescing several different thoughts and ideas on these larger questions of writing, imagination, and portraying a different future. I do hope you enjoy it and let me know how you find the new mic too!!

Hello friends! I'm joined in this episode by the excellent Icy Sedgwick of the Fabulous Folklore Podcast as we talk about her book "Black Dog & other gothic tales", a really fun collection of stories with folklore creatures both old and new! We delve into writing folklore, understanding it, how to consider it both creatively and historically and the question of respecting other cultures and avoiding appropriation! A lighter episode from last time, but an important and fun one all the same!

Hello everyone! We are here with another fascinating episode with the excellent guest Valeria Villegas Lindvall! Researcher of Feminism, horror and visual culture, we discussed and went into the aspects of the 2019 novel Cometierra (Eartheater), by Dolores Reyes. We talk violence, feminicide, representation and police violence, how art can be intensely political while still being beautiful. It is a painful and horrifying book of even worse stories, so CW for this violence, but a conversation to be had on what these disappearances mean, for the individuals, for society, and what are they really, deeply implicated by capitalism, violence and domination! It is... a lot! But an essential talk to be had, enjoy!!

Hello everyone!! This time we are back with another incredible and memorable episode with Pearson Bolt from the impeccable Coffee with Comrades, and once more on Ursula K. Le Guin, this time 1969's "The Left Hand of Darkness"! We chat about gender, science, knowledge, and how sometimes, confronting the difficulties of history, ignorance and this darkness, can be such a liberating force to confront and think of the world! Have fun!! Hello everyone! I am back, this time, with a particularly intense and chaotic book, which you can hopefully also judge whether you want to read it or not, it's JG Ballard's 1970 (Collection of essays? Stories? Novel?) The Atrocity Exhibition! A particularly scathing approach to contemporary American and, in general, neoliberal culture and the machinations of capital. In the episode with Kyle we go from the particularities of punk and technology, through the power of literature and connecting these cultural criticisms to a larger action in the world, to how we Historians behave and feel about it, and some of the most vile behaviours of capital in the present day via the worship of Reagan and the evil Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War. There's a lot to it! No wonder we accidentally chatted for nearly 2 hours! Have fun!

Hello everyone! In this exciting episode we go back to the roots of the Gothic, all the way to the 18th Century, as we talk of 1777's "The Old English Baron", by Clara Reeve! In this conversation with Dr. Sam Hirst we delve into the Gothic proper, some of its machinations, its origins with Horace Walpole's "Castle of Otranto" and relations of it with this book. Along with talking about class, Theology and the complicated mechanics of inheritance law! Sounds daunting, maybe, but I assure you, it is great fun! Enjoy!!
