All businesses have some kind of value proposition - a clear statement that communicates the benefit of what you do and why a customer would choose your product or service over someone else's.
Every value proposition should speak to a customer's need or problem and make the case for your company as the solution. A great value proposition may highlight what makes you different from competitors, but it should always focus on how your ideal customers define your value.
Sadly, many businesses do not have unique, visible or properly leveraged value proposition. As a consultant or coach, I'm sure you offer immense value in the knowledge, skills, experience you can use to help your clients.
If you often ask yourself why you can't get more clients and get paid what you're worth, this two-part series will help you understand how to clarify, package and leverage your value proposition.
I'll be talking through how to position your business and articulate your offer so your ideal clients see the value in what you do. We look at the important of visibility and differentiation in the marketplace. And we cover the difference between perceived value of what you contribute and the 'value for money' in your offer as it relates to pricing your products, programmes or services.
You'll learn about:
- What We Mean by a "Value Proposition"
- Communicating Your Value in the Marketplace

In the crowded marketplace of today's digital age, it's important for businesses to create a stand out brand so they get noticed for the specific thing they do and resonate with a specific target audience. Those who are successful are lacing their websites and social media with compelling, customer-focused and socially-conscious brands. So how can you get your business aligned, targeted, positioned and branded for success?
I'm excited to have a brilliant guest on the show today, Danny Matthews. Danny is CEO of Danny&Co, an award-winning brand consultancy and design studio with clients across the globe and creator of The Brand Confidence Advantage program.
Many professional service providers start their business after a long career in a particular industry. When they go solo as an independent consultant, it's often a stark realisation that the occupational labels that worked in employment don't work at all well in marketing their services. In the crowded marketplace of today's digital age, businesses really have to find a way to stand out and get noticed for a specific thing they do and for a specific target audience. Those who are successful are enjoying easy entry into self-employment by lacing their websites and social media with compelling, customer-focused and socially-conscious brands.
In this episode, we open up pandora's box, drawing on Danny's personal journey and client stories to dispel notions that branding is all about logos and colour schemes. We dive into the foundations of what a strong brand is really all about, how to find the connections in your expert journey, and ways you can get all your collateral working in harmony for your business growth.
Getting to the heart and soul of your business and identifying your core concept and niche is what determines and drives a stand out brand. Leveraging your brand is as much about shining a bright light on your core message as it is about visual appeal; and it's about finding cost-effective ways of content repurposing and customer engagement.
So, enjoy the input from my brilliant guest today, Danny Matthews, brand strategist and creator of the brand confidence assessment. Resources and the link to Danny's Brand Confidence Test in the episode show notes at jayallyson.com/podcast/create-a-stand-out-brand.
This episode is part 2 of How to Craft an Offer and Sell It Fast, where we look at ways you can build an effective sales process to sell your online program - a pathway that gets people excited and engaged about your offer, creates trust and moves them to enrol on your program.
If part 1 is about crafting your offer and you've done your market research well to elicit needs and gaps your program helps solve, now that we have designed our online group program to meet those requirements, we're shifting the focus to how you can sell it.
The trick for fast sales is how can we use this audience-led 'demand narrative' to resonate with our target market and create the vehicles for building trust.
