Amy Dresner wrote "My Fair Junkie" , a harrowing story of "getting dirty and staying clean". I reached out to her to let her know how much her book touched me, thinking she'd probably ignore me. Instead, she sat down with me for a deep dive into both of our neuroses, and I loved every second of it.
We touched on drug, alcohol, sex, food, and love addictions, but we also managed to laugh. A lot.
Please read her book (or have her read it to you on Audible)

Support the showAnthony DiDomenico is a stand up comic who, until recently, had a hard time standing up. He's lost over 170 lbs on WW while hosting the WW Bros Podcast and sharing his journey both on and off stage.

Val Emmich is a New York Times best-selling author (Dear Evan Hansen), an actor (30 Rock, Ugly Betty, commercials you've seen), a musician (Tizzy, Slow Down Kid), and my friend from High School.
He was the good looking guy with a band who became the guy with a record contract, who was in commercials and tv shows, who got a book published and articles written about him in the New York Times. He was also suffering from crippling depression and struggling to come to terms with a past he hid from everyone.
He and I have always kept in touch. It was really amazing to get to catch up with Val and talk to him about high school, what was really going on under the surface, his career, and his transition to fatherhood. I also genuinely love his music. It's autobiographical, raw, and gut-wrenching.
It was a true reminder that the guy with a band, the guy in all the plays, the varsity cheerleader, and the girl who didn't talk to anyone were all going through their own journeys, and they still are.
TRIGGER WARNING: This episode discusses mental health and suicide.

Aisha Walker aka "The Gastric Guru" created that plate. The one with the different sections for Protein and Carbs and Vegetables. You've seen it. She and I met in the Bariatric Facebook Groups and finally connected for a lovely chat about the ups and downs of bariatric surgery, running a social media community, and the Milk Diet. The MILK DIET. Why?
Aisha was candid and genuine. She is a true advocate for, and asset to, the Bariatric and Weight Loss communities at large. Also she has a killer accent. Enjoy.

10 years ago, Anthony D"Amato decided he no longer wanted to weigh 375 lbs. One year later, he was 200 lbs lighter and completely confused. Today, he has kept off the weight, and has taken the concept of transformation to an entirely new level by adopting the stage personality "Remember Jones".
His live show is an experience like no other, and we understand each other better than most. We talk about the craziness of extreme weight loss, the state of beef jerky in the nation, and the unique music of Remember Jones

Joanne Pollicella returns to the podcast a year (to the day) after her first appearance. The last time we spoke, I was 155 lbs heavier than I am today. She has happily maintained her weight and continues to be a total Cross Fit and Marathon Beast, but while the scale may not have moved, the last 365 days have changed her in many ways.

Chasity Force-Lopez wakes up at 1:45 am, runs 7-8 miles, spends two hours in the gym, and then goes to work in juvenile criminal justice. In case you don't feel lazy enough. On the outside, Chasity can seem like another instagram fitness model (@chasityforcefit), but her chiseled exterior belies a lifelong battle with binge-eating and compulsive behaviors.
Our chat went a long way toward illustrating how people are never entirely what they seem. Though she is definitely a badass. So that part is true.
