  • What Does It Mean to be Resilient?

Episode 46: In this episode, Amanda discusses her recent struggles with creativity and mental health. She shares her experiences with intrusive thoughts, but the main theme of the conversation is resilience and grace in the face of traumatic experiences. Amanda explores different examples of resilience, including dealing with illness, divorce, and caregiving. Amanda reflects on her experience watching her mother care for a sick friend and the perspective Amanda gained regarding managing stress and maintaining one’s adaptability. She discusses the toll that caregiving can take on a person and the importance of setting boundaries. Amanda also shares her own struggles with self-doubt and finding her purpose, and emphasizes the need to keep pushing forward and encourages listeners to choose themselves in the face of difficult situations.

This episode’s mindset prompts are inspired by Danyele Wilson and our former guest/fellow podcaster, Eddie Pinero. Danyele is a Chicago-based fitness instructor, athlete, entrepreneur, and health and wellness content creator. Eddie’s podcast and media consulting business is called “Your World Within” and he has an extensive career as an author, motivational speaker, entrepreneur, and content creator.

Eddie Pinero’s Mindset Prompt: “Our lives aren’t shaped by the plans we make. Our lives are shaped by the ability to adapt and push forward when those plans fall through.”

Danyele Wilson’s Mindset Prompt: “[I am] Having a morning where I don’t want to get out of bed and if that’s you too, I want you to remember this: You have no idea what opportunities are waiting for you today. You have no idea what doors could open for you, the momentum you could spark and the divine plans you could set in motion by simply getting out of bed. God woke you up with purpose this morning. Walk [in it]. Be grateful. And keep showing up.”

  • Life is About Direction, Not Speed

Episode 45: How do you know if you’re on the right path in life? Are you still successful even if you have not accomplished what society says you should have by now? Amanda discusses her struggles with the speed at which she’s achieving her goals in life versus focusing on the direction she is going in (or finding the right path to take). This episode is inspired by our former guest and fellow podcaster, Case Kenny. His podcast is called “New Mindset, Who Dis?” and he has a purpose driven, mindset book called That’s Bold of You.

    • Case Kenny: Ep. 608 – The joy of pulling a 180 (reinvention)
    • Case Kenny: Ep. 603 – You’re note falling behind (don’t settle)
    • Case Kenny: Ep. 577 – Not where you’re supposed to be in life?

    Case Kenny’s Mindset Prompt:

“Do you ever feel like you’re not where you’re supposed to be in life? Your ability to be happy is not limited to what you achieve ‘on time.’ Life isn’t about speed, it’s about direction. Wouldn’t you say it’s better to wander in the RIGHT direction than sprint in the WRONG one? To change your mind rather than to just do what’s expected of you? Your happiness doesn’t come from where society thinks you ‘should’ be by now or where younger you thought you should be by now. It’s about where you are, and the beauty you find there. So at any age it’s okay to rewrite the script in search of that. To change directions. Life isn’t just about milestones, it’s about collecting memories. And right now if that’s what you’re doing, you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.”

  • How to Stop Seeking Validation From Emotionally Unavailable People

Episode 44: In this episode, Amanda discusses how to crucial it is to define your own self-worth, and not seek it out in others, especially in romantic relationships. She also discusses how toxic "breadcrumbing" can be in your relationships; briefly touches on the emotional, mental, and physical abuse she experienced in her past relationships; and how she used to justify her self-worth to emotionally or physically unavailable people. Ultimately, the key message of this week's episode is to remember to never give away your power to manipulative or overly controlling people in your life.

Inspiration for this episode came from Wholeheartedly with Kendall and Galey (Ep. 1 – “Wake Me Up”), Girls Gotta Eat (Oct 2023: “Do You Feel Like You’ve Lost Yourself? W Dr. Sara Kuburic”), and New Mindset Who Dis? (Ep. 597 – Stop chasing unavailable people w/Matthew Hussey).

  • Overcoming Eating Disorders, Body Dysmorphia, and Fear of Solo Travel in Your 20s

Episode 43: Amanda discusses user generated content (UGC) and UGC creators, Shea McCracken and Hana Elson, and their viral TikTok about the Italian Boyfriend. Shea and Hana inspired this week’s episode with their honest POV videos about navigating their lives and travels in their 20s. Their videos are genuine and cover everything from body dysmorphia and eating disorders to coping mechanisms, traveling on a budget, female friendships, and self-doubt. Just because someone’s life on the internet looks amazing, does not mean they’re okay on the inside. Amanda talks about how grateful she is to have found these young women and hopes her content will help someone else feel less alone the same way Shea and Hana made Amanda feel better, too.

Episode 42: In this week's episode, Amanda reflects on her recent experiences at her brother's wedding and discusses the difference between feeling lonely and being alone. She emphasizes the importance of single people to not devale other relationships in their lives just because those relationships are not romantic partnerships. Amanda also explores the idea of finding true romantic love versus settling for a placeholder relationship to avoid loneliness. She shares her thoughts on the power of choice and the importance of investing in your personal growth. Overall, Amanda highlights why you should choose creating meaningful memories over mania; if you're not where you want to be... then don't freak out... yet.
