  • EPISODE 63: DJ Nu-Mark
DJ Nu-Mark. Long considered a musical pioneer due to his innovative songwriting over many years as part of hiphop icons Jurassic 5, Nu-Mark has stayed busy over the years doing production work for The Lonely Island (Saturday Night Live), TRDMRK (with Slimkid3 from The Pharcyde), Nas & Damian Marley, Aloe Blacc, Quantic, Souls of Mischief, Method Man and MF Doom and continues to release quality music to the day (even scoring movie soundtracks). More importantly, he’s about to drop a new album called ‘Run For Cover’ and (you guessed it) it’s a cover album featuring amazing otherworldly versions of classic tracks from Dr. Dre, Nelly, Busta Rhymes and Deee-light performed by wide-ranging acts like Melbourne’s very-own The Traffic, plus acclaimed groups Full Crate, Jungle Fire, Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band and many more. Of course, the boys go in deep with Nu-Mark about his history coming up in the LA hiphop scene, his time with J5 touring the world, going solo, producing for movies and TV shows and what it was like working with Hollywood film stars. Shan & OB do this amidst a couple of sets of dope jams in between a stack of DJ Nu-Mark material, including some exclusive drops from his as yet unreleased album.

Shan and OB welcome back the UK’s finest, The Allergies, to join them on air. DJ’s Moneyshot and Rackabeat have been plying their trade for quite some time and have just released their fifth studio album on Jalapeno Records, Promised Land. The boys got a sneak peek and can assure you that it’s what you’ve come to expect from this UK-duo with enough feel-good funk, hip-hop swagger and dusty vintage loops to keep your party turned up to breaking point levels from start to finish.
Back along for the ride are usual players Andy Cooper, Marietta Smith, Dynamite MC and they even enlisted the aid of Bay Area rapper extraordinaire, Lyrics Born. Shan and OB chat to them about all this, what they’ve been up to over lockdown this past year and a half, their upcoming tour and they even enlisted the duo to take part in the mighty return of the Battle of the Blends segment.
Of course, they did this amidst a stack of cuts from The Allergies all show squashed into two huge mega-mixes of the duo's material over their 5 albums, so make sure you are front and centre with your speakers turned up because this one is going to be huge!

  • EPISODE 59: KOKANE & KOOL ROCK SKI
Shan and OB welcome some hiphop royalty onto the show - and by royalty we mean the extra-prolific (and one of the originators of the entire G-Funk sound), Kokane and the legendary Kool Rock Ski from old-school legends Disco 3 aka The Fat Boys. The duo has just dropped a new jam called ‘Hush’ that is the hiphop anthem we needed in the world right now with its throwback lyrics and bumping beat.

Of course, they do all this amidst plenty of classic rap, hiphop, funk, soul and disco beats that made both these artists what they are today. Plus, Shan and OB challenge each other to strictly East Coast Vs West Coast mix sets, so you decide who comes out on top.

  • EPISODE 58: MISBEHAVIOUR
This week, Shan and OB welcome NYC-based, DJ Misbehaviour. This legendary DJ purchased her first record at the age of 9 and has been hooked ever since rocking dance floors globally. Long before they became the "it" thang, she became a resident at Mobile Mondays with fellow dons Operator Emz, Just Blaze, Natasha Diggs, $$$ Mike and Joey Carvello.
Over the years, she's dropped private party sets for Prince, infamous Skate Circle jams in Central Park and she has worked with icons like Biz Markie, Danny Krivit, Kenny Dope, Cut Chemist & Prince Paul (to name a few). She also went viral to the tune of 24 million views on Facebook in 2017 when footage emerged of her dropping golden era hiphop to a massive crowd at a museum jam in NYC, so our guess is you probably know her.
The boys talk to Trish about all this and what she's been up to lately, most importantly, her mega-huge streams from corner restaurants during lockdown that have again caused quite a stir.
Of course, they do all this amidst a stack of the jams that have made Mobile Monday's such a "funktastic" party and the boys drop plenty of those good times tunes for your listening pleasure with a couple of upbeat mix sets.

  • EPISODE 56: IZO FITZROY
Known as a singer/songwriter with raw soul power and an extremely big voice, Izo Fitzroy is on that line between soul, gospel, blues, funk and disco. She really is the whole package and over the course of 2 albums and numerous singles, she's worked with diverse producers like Dr Rubberfunk, Sean Lee and Dimitri From Paris on tracks that have seen her become one of the UK's biggest musical exports. She's just dropped the first of 3 new singles, Everybody Knows This Ain't Right, a scathing attack on the inequalities that exist in the world that is equal parts political commentary and soulful brilliance. Shan and OB go deep into conversation with Izo about how she was discovered performing lounge piano comedy, has recorded with Grammy-winning musicians and how she's been doing work on live West End musicals. Of course, they do all this in between a stack of brand new releases on the hiphop, funk, soul, disco and house tip, including the brand new track from Perth soul-legends Randa and the Soul Kingdom.
