  • EPISODE 51: PLATURN
Shan and OB welcome onboard a 26-year veteran of the music industry, DJ Platurn. As the founder of both the Oakland Faders and the world-renowned 45 Sessions parties (which really re-ignited the entire 45’s craze), plus a sick party DJ in his own right, Platurn has toured the world many times to bring his type of party to every conceivable dance floor. With a client list that includes Red Bull, Toyota, Adidas, Pixar and the Golden State Warriors, you know he’s the real deal. When not digging for wax, he’s producing music for documentaries, cutting up master recordings into his own edits of obscure (and not so obscure) jams and funking up classic hiphop, the original samples and live instrumentation into the sickest mixtapes on the planet.
Platurn has a new project out with LA-native Savannah Lancaster under the guise of SUNDUR. It’s a different side of Platurn that really takes stock of a twisted Covid-stricken world and let’s it all out in a groovy downtempo type of vibe that we here at the station loved upon first listen and think you will too.
So listen in to get the lowdown on what’s been going on with this Icelandic native, plus Shan and OB drop some Platurn exclusives along with a couple of banging sets of funk, disco, house and boogie madness.

  • EPISODE 50: Shan & OB
On this week’s episode  we celebrate a bit of a milestone show. Even though we’re way over 50 radio shows over the past year, it’s our 50th podcast due to the fact we don’t podcast every show. Huge thanks to the boys and girls at Base FM (Jazz, Ian & Yannika and crew) who let us indulge ourselves in only the best in beats, interviews with our favourite artists and zany segments that we, at least, find funny upon playback.
We got something bigger planned for the proper one-year anniversary podcast, but for this we decided to go with an OG format of a show where we drop 4 mixes of banging choons for a proper morning (or day or night if that’s your poison) session.
As always, we throw in some new jams (from the likes of Jeyone & Double A, PM Warson, The Brothers Nylon, The Rebel and Mungo’s Hi-Fi) in and around a swag of classics.

  • EPISODE 49: THE NEXTMEN
Shan and OB take it up a notch with UK production/songwriting/DJ duo, The Nextmen, stopping onto the show this week. Consisting of Dom Search (a.k.a. Dominic Betmead) and Brad Baloo (a.k.a. Brad Ellis), The Nextmen have been producing a special blend of club, bass, reggae, hiphop and party vibes since their first foray into making beats remixing London Posse back in 1996. They’ve worked with artists such as Plan B, Alice Russell, Groove Armada, Fat Freddy's Drop, Rodney P, Dynamite MC, Faithless and Public Enemy and have a 6th studio album in the works as we speak. A teaser from that album has just been released and it’s a dubby reggae journey that will leave you with no doubt that these boys still bring the goods. So listen in as Shan and OB drop some exclusives amidst all their favorite Nextmen jams, plus some banging sets that keep this ‘club focussed’ episode at the breaking point.

  • EPISODE 46: JIM SHARP
Shan & OB chat with Toronto ex-pat and now UK resident, Jim Sharp. Jim has made quite a name for himself not only as a sick party DJ, but also as one of the premier beat producers for the biggest 45’s label around the world, Dusty Donuts. His ‘Straighten It Out’ mixtapes are “must listens” for any hiphop fan and his edits are the go-to jams that DJ’s flock to like flies to honey. From his humble beginnings as a drum’n’bass DJ in Canada to producing boombap hiphop as J.Bold all the way to his foray into Baltimore Club before releasing the first 45 on the then brand new Dusty Donuts label in 2014, Jim has always kept it funky. He’s also got releases on labels such as Soul By The Pound, Private Stock and Soul Dynomite and he’s played with everyone from George Clinton to Mobb Deep. In addition to going deep into conversation about all this, the boys drop exclusive sets of Jim’s hiphop, funk and soul 45’s, plus a stack of his tracks from way back to now, including 2 of his brand new jams that haven’t even been released to the public yet. Can’t say we didn’t warn ya.

  • EPISODE 45: JIM BARON (CRAZY P)
Jim Baron (aka Ron Basejam) from Crazy P stops in to chat with Shan & OB about his new solo EP. Unless you’ve been living in a self-imposed dance isolation stupor for the past 20 years, you’d know Crazy P. This English electronic group has been churning out beats heavily influenced by vintage disco, soul and house music since their debut album “A Nice Hot Bath With…” was unleashed in 1999 and Jim (with co-founder Chris Todd aka Hot Toddy) have been behind the controls of the dance juggernaut since the very start. We talk to Jim about the ride he and the band have been on and what the future holds for this supergroup. Plus, we drop an exclusive mix of all Crazy P tracks, remixes and related tunes – and we also play some of Jim’s brilliant new EP “Falling That You Know”.
