Known as a singer/songwriter with raw soul power and an extremely big voice, Izo Fitzroy is on that line between soul, gospel, blues, funk and disco. She's just dropped the first of 3 new singles, Everybody Knows This Ain't Right, a scathing attack on the inequalities that exist in the world that is equal parts political commentary and soulful brilliance. Known for their unrestrained solos and otherworldly horns over a stomping rhythm section that's tighter than puckered-up lips on a saxophone, these cats are the real deal. They've opened for the likes of Charles Bradley, The Budos Band and The Bamboos and have even toured New Zealand so they are definitely not strangers to our Kiwi listeners. As the founder of both the Oakland Faders and the world-renowned 45 Sessions parties (which really re-ignited the entire 45’s craze), plus a sick party DJ in his own right, Platurn has toured the world many times to bring his type of party to every conceivable dance floor. With a client list that includes Red Bull, Toyota, Adidas, Pixar and the Golden State Warriors, you know he’s the real deal. When not digging for wax, he’s producing music for documentaries, cutting up master recordings into his own edits of obscure (and not so obscure) jams and funking up classic hiphop, the original samples and live instrumentation into the sickest mixtapes on the planet.

Platurn has a new project out with LA-native Savannah Lancaster under the guise of SUNDUR. It’s a different side of Platurn that really takes stock of a twisted Covid-stricken world and let’s it all out in a groovy downtempo type of vibe that we here at the station loved upon first listen and think you will too.
