Known as a singer/songwriter with raw soul power and an extremely big voice, Izo Fitzroy is on that line between soul, gospel, blues, funk and disco. She really is the whole package and over the course of 2 albums and numerous singles, she's worked with diverse producers like Dr Rubberfunk, Sean Lee and Dimitri From Paris on tracks that have seen her become one of the UK's biggest musical exports. She's just dropped the first of 3 new singles, Everybody Knows This Ain't Right, a scathing attack on the inequalities that exist in the world that is equal parts political commentary and soulful brilliance. Shan and OB go deep into conversation with Izo about how she was discovered performing lounge piano comedy, has recorded with Grammy-winning musicians and how she's been doing work on live West End musicals. Based originally out of Washington-DC, Steve started the group with original members Jon Horvath, Rob Myers and Sid Barcelona and through their label, Fort Knox Recordings, they have released many "must-have" beat-flavoured bombs on the funk, reggae, hiphop and electronica tip that DJ's and punters the world over have gravitated towards like flies to honey. From supporting acts on tour like The Black Eyed Peas and Gwen Steffani to Vegas residencies, producing albums for legends like Afrika Baambaattaa and remixing everyone and anyone in-between their mega-albums Radio Free-DC and Pressurize The Cabin, Fort Knox Five have achieved a lot over the years. Shan and OB go deep in conversation with Steve about this and everything he and the collective have been up to lately, like the new remix they just did for DiscoBeta that is pure club brilliance and a new Fort Knox Five original track coming out soon featuring vocalist Emily Malloy that is all about pop vibrations over that classic FK5 sound. Shan & OB speak to Trent Sterling, the guitarist for The Seven Ups. Blending influences from 1970’s underground funk and afrobeat with jazz, psych and fuzz rock, the Seven Ups are an original 7-piece party band out of the northern suburbs of Melbourne. Known for their unrestrained solos and otherworldly horns over a stomping rhythm section that's tighter than puckered-up lips on a saxophone, these cats are the real deal. They've opened for the likes of Charles Bradley, The Budos Band and The Bamboos and have even toured New Zealand so they are definitely not strangers to our Kiwi listeners. Keeping the whole show on plus 11, Shan and OB also drop some blazing sets of funk, disco, hiphop, house, beats and all the usual trimmings.

Shan and OB welcome onboard a 26-year veteran of the music industry, DJ Platurn. As the founder of both the Oakland Faders and the world-renowned 45 Sessions parties (which really re-ignited the entire 45’s craze), plus a sick party DJ in his own right, Platurn has toured the world many times to bring his type of party to every conceivable dance floor. With a client list that includes Red Bull, Toyota, Adidas, Pixar and the Golden State Warriors, you know he’s the real deal. When not digging for wax, he’s producing music for documentaries, cutting up master recordings into his own edits of obscure (and not so obscure) jams and funking up classic hiphop, the original samples and live instrumentation into the sickest mixtapes on the planet.

Platurn has a new project out with LA-native Savannah Lancaster under the guise of SUNDUR. It’s a different side of Platurn that really takes stock of a twisted Covid-stricken world and let’s it all out in a groovy downtempo type of vibe that we here at the station loved upon first listen and think you will too.
