The Loyal Sons

We've been waiting all year for the basketball season to tip off. Tonight the Pitt basketball team takes on Pitt-Johnstown in a scrimmage so we couldn't wait any longer to dive in and preview the season, the new players, and give our predictions.

Pitt also takes on #4 ranked Florida State on Saturday. We're less optimistic about that but we give our modest wish list for this matchup.

Pitt drops an absolutely heartbreaking, and borderline embarrassing, game to Wake Forest. The Sons talk Veilleux's promise, Cignetti's playcalling (shocker), and why the end of that game pissed us off.

Also, Pitt hoops won their secret scrimmage and we need to hang on to some source of optimism.

It's time for The Sonnies...AKA The Loyal Sons mid-season award show. We present awards for Most Pleasant Surprise, Most Questionable Coaching Decision, Best Play, and plenty of other highly coveted (or maybe not) awards.

Can Pitt go on its first win streak of the season? We preview this week's matchup with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons and give our sportsbook predictions.

In his first start at Pitt, Christian Veilleux fires the Superweapon and evaporates ACC frontrunner Louisville. The Loyal Sons recap an unforgettable yet extremely moist Homecoming upset that has reignited a sleeping team and fanbase.

It was a bye week, but that doesn't mean the Pitt football program didn't give us a to to talk about. Phil Jurkovec was benched, moved to tight end (allegedly), and then moved back to quarterback (allegedly). Whatever happened, Christian Veilleux is the new starter and this, at the very least, gives us some reason to be interested in the rest of this season.

The High School Sports Editor for the PPG, Mike "Blue and" White, joins his old friends to discuss Phil's shocking regression, Julian Dugger, Pitt's top WPIAL targets, and most importantly, to address accusations that he's a spy for James Franklin.

I think we all needed a bye week. We're joined by Noah Hiles of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette to discuss what changes need to be made on and off the field. Who should be playing QB, calling plays, and where will Pat Narduzzi be next season?

We did our first-ever joint episode live stream with a Virginia Tech podcast, The Sons of Saturday.

On this episode, we revisit the history of the Pitt - VT matchup, take a deep dive into each team...mostly what's gone wrong so far, and give our not-very-confident predictions.

Hail, Loyal Sons of Pittsburgh.
