  • ACA Classic auction preview, running on 3 cylinders and a roof tent paradox

In this week's episode, Martin and Steve are fresh back from the York Land Rover Show, and one of the boys' journey back was more seamless than the other.

A listener gets in touch about a rare Searle Carawagon camper that they spotted in York while taking advantage of Steve's favourite camping spot, and Martin makes a total mess of pronouncing his name.

Steve spots a Land Rover from a train, and discusses the delightful sounds of a Td5 engine – who needs a radio anyway?

The boys also take a look at the Anglia Car Auctions Classic catalogue, and highlight some of the fine Land Rovers and Range Rovers on offer at the end of August, including a Range Rover Sport Autobiography with less than 10,000 miles on the clock. And perhaps one to avoid....

Martin ask the listeners a roof tent-related question, and of course asks you for yours – send your questions and feedback to [email protected] and be sure to follow Land Rover Monthly on socials and sign up for the newsletters! Enjoy the episode.

  • Celebrities in Land Rovers, TDV8 Discoverys and a new issue of LRM magazine (in shops now!)

In this week's episode, Martin makes a mess of the introduction, and Steve suggests we do an outtakes reel. What do you reckon?

Martin's failed to drive his One Ten in to the office yet again, much to Steve's chagrin. His excuse? Wanting to listen to podcasts on his drive in, something that the old One Ten cannot yet offer.

Steve shares some history on Urban Automotive, and reminisces about a breakdown he had in his Defender 90. Martin debates the pros and cons of TDV8-converted Discovery 3s, and happens upon more questionable projects on Marketplace.

Martin humbly requests that you, the listener, sends in a question about Land Rovers. Or even a question not about Land Rovers – send it to [email protected].

There's a new issue of Land Rover Monthly magazine in shops today – so go and get it!

As always, we hugely appreciate your feedback and any ratings on your preferred streaming platforms, and of course on YouTube. Enjoy the episode.

  • Spares or repair buys, sticky propshafts and loving Land Rover history

In this episode, Martin and Steve are back on the salmon sofa putting the world to rights about all things Land Rover.

Martin kicks off by putting a case forwards on the Discovery Sport, and Steve makes a good point about potentially getting spares and repairs bargains and putting them right.

Steve has updates on his Ninety project, as next May's LRM Live looms, and he shares tales about trying to sell a family member's car using a popular car buying service.

Martin reveals that he's started the world's most niche Facebook page, The Michelin XCL Appreciation Group, and the pair give some insights into the next issue of Land Rover Monthly magazine.

As always, your ratings and reviews are always appreciated as are your questions – send them over to [email protected] and we'll endeavour to answer them!

  • Defender Trophy, VM diesel Range Rovers, £6k family cars and YouTube comments

In this episode, Martin reports back from his time at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, and the introduction he got to the Defender Trophy – and reveals why you can't enter it if you're in the UK.

Steve's new bulkhead is back from the painters, and he's unsure if he likes the colour. Head to his socials (@steve_miller_automotive) and give him your thoughts.

Martin discovers how much of a leap forward in ride comfort and drivability the coil-sprung utility Land Rovers were over their leaf-sprung brethren, and also how modifying a Land Rover is always a compromise.

Product of the Week and Feature of the Week of course star, and there's tons more great Land Rover chat. Feel free to leave us a rating or review on your preferred streaming platform or leave a comment on YouTube, and send your questions or feedback to [email protected]

    Enjoy the episode.

The trio chat about Trevor's favourite combinations of wheelbase, engine and gearbox, and he imparts the colour scheme and style that's become somewhat of a signature of his.

  • Inside Norfolk Garage with LRM contributor Richard Hall

In this week's episode, Martin is at Glencoyne Engineering – or Norfolk Garage as it's known in the pages of Land Rover Monthly magazine – having a chat with Richard Hall, the man behind the column so many readers love to get stuck into every month.

As well as picking up an engine he's bought for his 1985 110, Martin quizzes Richard on his favourite modern upgrades for Series Land Rovers, has a look around the workshop that sees hundreds of Land Rover pass through its doors every year, and gets the inside scoop on what it's like to own and run an independent Land Rover specialist as a one-man operation.

There's chat about how careful owners must be when seeking out technical information on the internet, an insight into Richard's recent purchase, an 88in Series III, and a look into his plans for the future as he relocates Norfolk Garage to a smaller operation in Lincolnshire. Don't worry though, he'll still be writing for Land Rover Monthly magazine.

  • Beer tent special – LIVE at The Billing Off Road Show

In the first ever live-recorded episode of The LRM Podcast, Land Rover Monthly's Martin Domoney and Steve Miller take to the infamous Salmon Sofa to chat to a roster of no less than six special guests inside the beer tent of the Billing Off Road Show.

Kicking off with the confessions of TV's Jimmy De Ville, the guys chat adventures in the Pyrenees, unwittingly smashing up a Series I and the inspiration behind Jimmy's amazing design and fabrication work that makes overlanding in a Defender 90 doable.

Next up is Defender Lexi, a name and face you may well be familiar with from her adventures on Instagram. Lexi talks getting pulled over by the police, her ever-growing collection of project Land Rovers and surviving the mud run at The Billing Off Road show – check out her socials @defender.lexi

Finally for the Saturday, Mat Allcroft (aka Fitter Mat) brings with him his unique blend of wit and hatred for certain automotive engineers which you've no doubt seen him display across YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok – @matallcroft13 and @fitter.mat

Sunday kicks off with an update from Defender Lexi – she fixes her Defender and then promptly breaks it again on the off-road course, but gets it together just in time to head home.

Next onto the sofa, a man whose Defender 110 overlander has previously graced the cover of Land Rover Monthly, Jack Watson, aka @Boris_the_Defender. Jack explains the development of his 110 hard top camper, working with Land Rover-based companies and trying to go on adventures without his dog being sick on him.

Zach Sheppard is next to grace the salmony goodness, also known as @scout_the_defender – he gives the lowdown on his very cool 90 that he's modified in a way that's very different to the 110 that he's seen with at events, most often on the Oak Ridge Engineering stand alongside Jack. He also imparts a geeky fact about different metallic black paints as used on Land Rovers...

Finally, a YouTuber who's not afraid to show some of the struggles of working on Land Rovers, Dale Reubin joins the boys on the sofa. From inspiring Martin to try and retrim a seat to wresting a headlining, Dale's approach to sharing his DIY adventures is truly refreshing and it was a treat to meet him and get his take on the show and admire his colour co-ordinated trousers. Check out his work on YouTube and Instagram @DaleReubin

Thanks to everyone who came along to watch The LRM Podcast, and a special thank you to our special guests – we had an amazing weekend, and we hope you did too.

As always, please do leave a little rating or review on your preferred streaming platform, and send any questions or feedback to editorial@lrm,co,uk – enjoy the episode.

Chris explains how wheel sizes and offsets can have a huge effect on your Land Rover's looks and handling, and how these elements can change the vehicle's behaviour on and off-road.

He imparts loads more wheel knowledge, including looking at how weight can be a big contributing factor to acceleration and fuel economy, and goes into the reasons for choosing steel wheels over alloy wheels and vice versa.
