Conspiracy theories. At one time they seemed to be nothing more than the ramblings of the neighborhood crazy; but with the proliferation of the internet and news aggregates that specialize in the field, what once were the fringe ideas of a madman are now becoming mainstream canon. Every day we see the rapid growth and spread of conspiratorial ideals through means of news sites, (whether you like them or not InfoWars has done a great job at spreading ideas that go against the mainstream school of thought)books and even college courses are being taught on the subject. Yes, there are entire political science programs built around conspiracy theories.

Enter this week’s guest, Joseph Uscinski. Joseph is a writer, researcher, speaker, and college professor. Joseph is a political science professor at the University of Miami College of Arts and Sciences. This may not seem that unusual, however, the subject matter he teaches is what sets him apart from your standard run of the mill instructor. Joseph teaches a class called “Conspiracy Theories and the Public” in his rotation, and since its inception has been one of the fastest-filling and hardest to get into classes there at the University of Miami.

The breadth of Joseph’s repertoire spans the entire conspiracy gambit and is clearly evident on the varying platforms in which he has been showcased on. Besides being a guest on this fantastic show (hey, what's a little shameless self-promotion right?), Joseph has been featured in Wired magazine, NPR, The Washington Post, Politico, Newsweek, and even Cosmopolitan Magazine, among countless others. His message is rather simple and seems to garner a lot of attention where he goes, and that message is that people are fed up with propagated and falsified “news stories” that we are fed on a daily basis.

While most of us are pretty familiar with the common line up of conspiracy theories (e.g. 9/11, GMOs, “News channels” falsifying stories, climate change, etc.) Joseph poses a theory on a classic that has not been in the usual rotation that we are all too familiar with. While the number of shooters, where the bullet(s) came from, and the exact motive for killing JFK are all subjects that are widely discussed, the fate of JFK himself is something that is rarely if even discussed at all. This show took place during election night 2016. Julie who helps with content for The Malliard report plays host on this episode. If you're a long-time fan of the show, you know the answer to some of the questions he is given. But for those who are new fans, this is a good way to get to know Jim and his journey.

They talk about Jim's Dream investigation site, how the internet radio scene has changed. He also takes this moment to give a slight schooling to those who think starting a show and then quitting in 6-8 weeks is the way to go. Jim also answers the question that people are always asking, where is the podcast done from. He goes over his beliefs and his thoughts on religion. Julie does a great job throughout the interview with Jim.

Jim's thoughts on hauntings and investigations as well are reviewed during this episode, these rare nights that he is able to let his audience and fans get to know him a little more and have a truly audience led show is something, not most host are willing to do.

On this episode of The Mallliard Report Jim welcomes a guest that has a list of accomplishments and accolades that would impress even the most ambitious of people. A long term veteran of law enforcement and seeing a career that has spanned across several decades, John Carman has served as a member of The Secret Service (protecting the President, First Family, and many other prominent heads of state), worked as a San Diego Police officer, US Mint Police (protecting gold bullion at the US Federal Depository in San Francisco), and as an agent for the US Customs and Border Patrol. While John served many honorable years and was recognized for his outstanding service, this is not the reason as to why he is garnering negative attention from unwanted sources. John is a whistleblower. A whistleblower in a field where a lot of money is moved and made.

During his tenure as a customs agent, John received many commendations for his outstanding work. He was responsible for some of the biggest smuggling busts; drugs, money, people, you name it. As with any agent worth his salt, John paid attention to the goings on around him. This is where he began to notice that some things were not on the up and up. Other agents would downplay the amount of narcotics found on a bust to lessen a sentence. Superiors would take bribes and kickbacks in order to let some dealings slide under the radar. The various Mexican cartels would “adopt” other agents as a sort of “in” in order to have things go favorably for them. Some (very large) confiscations would just go “missing”, and airplanes owned and operated by our government were known to be moving narcotics and allowed to forego any inspection whatsoever. John drives the magnitude of this point by noting that when astronauts returned from their trip to the moon, that they themselves had to undergo a customs inspection and officially declare the rocks and other materials that they had brought back. So how does a DEA plane skip an inspection?

In addition to learning about the activity that goes on behind the scenes of the Customs and Border Patrol, John openly shares how his life has changed since he became a whistle blower. He goes into detail about coworkers treating him with a sense of resentment even after an interview with complete anonymity, physical attacks upon him, “visits” from cartel members, and much, much more. John warns that while being a whistleblower is the right thing to do when it is necessitated, it does however come with a hefty price. He also states that anyone that should happen to take on the role of whistleblower should be prepared for the rough road that lays ahead. John shares how he empathizes with what people such as Edward Snowden and Julian Assange have to deal with on a daily basis. John also discusses the failed “war on drugs” and the US’ involvement in the shipment and distribution of narcotics, and much more

This interview makes for a fantastic episode, and this write up does not even begin to scratch the surface. In fact, the interview itself fails to even begin to catalog what all John has to share. Jim eludes to several other episodes in the near future with John, and tantalizes us with a bombshell of a story that he just will not give up yet! So you have to stay tuned!

Heck, Jim Malliard once more shows why his show is indeed the “Fastest Hour in Paranormal Talk Radio” again when he sits down and calmly explains that he doesn’t have a guest this week for us to enjoy. In fact, we get the full hour with Jim by ourselves, as well as a chat room full of fans talking to him during it’s live presentation, so this one is a special show indeed. Sit back, and relax!

Opening the show, Jim Malliard explains why there’s no guest this week for us to enjoy: Because he’s spending the full hour with us to make predictions that he believes are coming up in 2017. In fact, Jim starts off the show with recapping his predictions from last year about what he thought would, and could, happen in 2016 and whether they came true or not. Whether they did can’t be said in this review of the show of course, as long time fans of the Malliard Report should know to sit back and listen for themselves.
