David Tian, Ph.D.: Boom, stop! I'm David Tian, Ph.D., and this video is about what it takes to make a relationship passionate over time.
Masculinity for the Intelligent Man. I'm David Tian, Ph.D. and this is Man Up!
Hi, I'm David Tian, Ph.D., and for over the past 11 years, I've been helping hundreds of thousands of people in over 87 countries attain success, happiness, and fulfillment in life and love, and welcome to the Man Up series, Man Up episode – I forget which number this is, 200-something. Right now, I'm in Jakarta. And as always, leaving it to the last minute.
We are literal on the way to the airport right after I film this, and enjoying this amazing suite on the 65th floor of the Westin here. A wonderful suite, two bathrooms, a dining room. Anyway, so you can see this view. It's a little bit hazy today, blue skies the past few days, been pretty nice.

David Tian, Ph.D.: Boom! Stop. I'm David Tian, Ph.D., and this video is a message to men about women today. Welcome to Man Up Episode 229.
Masculinity for the Intelligent Man. I'm David Tian, Ph.D., and this is Man Up!
Hi. I'm David Tian, Ph.D., and for over the past 11 years, I've been helping hundreds of thousands of people in other 87 countries attain success, happiness, and fulfillment in life and love. And welcome to Man Up Episode 229. This is a message to men, and it's originally a response to private messages that I got in response to Episodes 10 and 11 of the DTPHD Podcast.
If you didn't know we had the DTPHD Podcast going, now you know. Go check it out. It's aimed at a different demographic. It's something that's more of a [INAUDIBLE 00:00:49] for me. In the Man Up episodes, I'm responding to other people's questions, so the topics are largely constrained by the questions I get. In the DTPHD Podcast, it's a lot more about what we want to talk about, what I want to talk about, and my frequent guest, Henry Chong, what he wants to talk about as well.
In Episode 10 of the DTPHD Podcast, I did a solo podcast in response to a reader/hater. He had Red Pill undertones, overtones, and the Men Go Their Own Way movement, MGOTW movement. And then Episode 11 was about masculine-feminine polarity. So, we got a bunch of different messages and comments based off those two episodes, and I decided that the Man Up series is a better place to deal specifically with masculinity issues, obviously. So, I'm making this one for those guys.

Boom! Stop. I'm David Tian, Ph.D, and this video is a message for achievers.
Masculinity for the Intelligent Man. I'm David Tian, Ph.D. and this is Man Up!
Yo, this is David Tian, Ph.D. and over the past 10 years, actually 11 years, I've been helping over a hundred thousand people in over 87 countries attain success, happiness, and fulfillment in life and love. Welcome to the Man Up show. This is episode — probably around 227, not exactly sure. We are at the balcony club of my favorite mall, which is kind of weird to say this is a mall. It's next to the Park Hyatt which you can see in the other direction.
Anyway, I got a question here from the Man Up Facebook group. Actually, it was private messaged to me because it was a forwarded screenshot that the person took. I don't normally answer private message questions, but this one was well-put. He said:
"What do you think of this Instagram post? Because it really captures well hope I feel right now."
So, I looked at the post and I thought, "Okay, this is a good way to go." So, for the first time ever, I'm going to be answering a question that somebody else sent me that's somebody else's question. Anyway, it's a second order question. Let's get into it.

Boom! Stop. I'm David Tian, Ph.D. And in this video, I answer the question: Do girls like dating casually? Welcome to Man Up Episode 226.
Masculinity for the Intelligent Man. I'm David Tian, Ph.D. and this is Man Up!
Hey. It's David Tian, Ph.D. and for over the past 10 years, I've been helping hundreds of thousands of people in over 87 countries attain success, happiness, and fulfillment in life and love. Actually, for the past over 11 years. Welcome to Man Up Episode probably 226. This is the first episode we're shooting in the new year, so Happy New Year! I got a question here from the private Facebook group from Edwin.
The question is pretty short so I'll read the whole thing.
"Hey David. I went on a date with a girl. We went as friends. One thing led to another and we ended the day making out and holding hands. When I asked her when she's free, she said that she was busy the whole week and that she's not sure about next week. Am I supposed to just wait out a full week then ask her when she's free? Also, how can girls have the patience to just wait a week, perhaps more, after sharing an amazing experience together? Wouldn't the passion just die off?"
Edwin is very confused because they're actually not on the same page.
I'm answering this question. It should be pretty quick. I think it's just something that Edwin doesn't understand. They started the date as friends, they ended it by making out and holding hands. When she's asked when are you free next, she's like, "Not sure." "How about next week?", he says. "Not sure." So, Edwin is not getting the picture. He's thinking, "But we had an amazing experience together! Wouldn't you want the passion not to die off?" Edwin just doesn't understand the modern female, especially in America and Western countries.

Boom! Stop. I'm David Tian, PhD, and in this video, I answer the question: Is she being spoiled or is it just you? Welcome to the Man Up show.
Masculinity for the Intelligent Man. I'm David Tian, PhD., and this is Man Up!
Hey. I'm David Tian, PhD., and for over the past 10 years, I have been helping hundreds of thousands of people in over 87 countries attain success, happiness and fulfillment in life and love. Here we are in Bali. This is from our ocean suite, ocean villa balcony, and it's right on the ocean. It's pretty nice. This is the Westin in Bali. They're undergoing some renovations, and I'm looking forward to seeing it when it's done. Anyway, we're behind. We're actually late to go to the airport, but I'm going to shoot this last minute. Bali Airport isn't all that nice anyway, but we're late so it's going to be short.
Okay, this one comes from Ude. Ude says:
"For the first two years, I would do everything for my girlfriend. But the last year or so, I've grown sick of a lot of things that are very inconvenient or don't appear to make sense to me." I'm going to read out his question, because this is a very common issue where guys think they have a problem here, but the problem is actually way down underneath. What he thinks is his problem, his real problem is actually much deeper.
He says: "It has hurt our relationship to the point of breaking. I'm trying to get my point across to her, but it's not working. Am I in the wrong?" Okay, some examples he gives, "I am working night shifts. My girlfriend decides to go out and get her car repaired. She finds out it's going to take 3 hours and she didn't want to wait at the stores. She calls me in the morning, 3 hours into my sleep, to come pick her up and drive her home and drive her back. She's an hour across the city." It's like a two-hour drive.

Masculinity for the Intelligent Man. I'm David Tian, PhD and this is Man Up!
Hey! I'm David Tian, PhD. For over the past 10 years, I've been helping hundreds of thousands of people in over 87 countries attain success, happiness, and fulfillment in life and love. Welcome to Man Up Episode 222. I'm in Bali, Indonesia and it's raining now. You can probably see that. Luckily, we got the swim in just before the rain started coming down. This is rainy season, November, here in Bali. I got to show them all our mess.
It's a nice two-story loft. Did you show the upper part? Not just the living room. I just got choked there with the microphone cord. I didn't just randomly make an 'uh' sound. Okay, cool. Welcome back to me. Okay, I got a question here from Tyler from the Man Up private Facebook group, which you should join. Click the link, join the group. Tyler's question is about a screen and a half. I'm going to try to summarize it, but I'll read most of it.
Tyler says, "How do you deal with working with an ex-girlfriend who cheated on you?" That's his ostensible question. He'll end with that question. That's not the actual most important question from him though, as you will see the more you read his question.

Boom! Stop. I'm David Tian, PhD, and in this video, I answer the question: Should I help her with her finances? Welcome to Man Up Episode 221.
Masculinity for the Intelligent Man. I'm David Tian, PhD., and this is Man Up!
Hi. I'm David Tian, PhD., and for over the past 10 years, I have been helping hundreds of thousands of people in over 87 countries attain success, happiness and fulfillment in life and love. Welcome to Man Up Episode 221. I'm in Bangkok at one of my favorite malls again. Just above us is the Park Hyatt Hotel, recently opened, will be up there for some drinks later tonight. This is a nice patio. They're renovating it so it's a bit of a mess, but it's a nice outdoor area. It's coming up to dry season in beautiful Bangkok, so the weather is pretty damn good right now.
It's sunny but not too hot or humid at all. I got a question here from the Man Up private Facebook group. This one comes from Greg. Greg has a question:
"I was with this girl for 14 years. Some rough spots and some greats. I am 15 years older. She came to me about a year ago and said she didn't want to be with me, and then she said we will try. About 4 months after that, she said we were done. I moved out and she was having financial issues. To make a long story short, she has been asking for money to help her... What should I do? I don't want to be just a cash cow for her. She dumped my ass to the curb. If I give her money, it would help her with the bills, but I don't want to give her money for her to go partying with other guys. I think it's the case of grass is greener on the other side..."
I chose this question because I can't believe you asked this inside the group. I ended up having to turn off the comments because you're just getting nailed. It seems like you – and other guys who ask this sort of question don't get it. I just want to break it down real quick. There's a video that you should watch. It's a 40-minute or so video where I go into depth on what your deeper issues are, that you have white knight syndrome, fixer mentality, basically the same thing, that you're a rescuer. You need to fix that first or you will always get exploited in relationships.

Boom! Stop. I'm David Tian, PhD, and in this video, I answer the question: When I caught my girlfriend sexting her ex. Welcome to the Man Up show. Masculinity for the Intelligent Man. I'm David Tian, PhD., and this is Man Up!
Hi. I'm David Tian, PhD., and for over the past 10 years, I have been helping hundreds of thousands of people in over 87 countries attain success, happiness and fulfillment in life and love. Welcome to the Man Up show. We are here in Siam Reap. You see this gorgeous 12th century temple behind me here, it's Angkor Wat for those who have been in Southeast Asia, you must know this amazing site. It is one of the special UNESCO protected sites, one of my favorite temples. I got a little spot here. There are little monkeys going by me just earlier, something that'll happen again.
I got a question from the Man Up private – there they are! The Man Up private Facebook group. This one comes from Wayne. I'm going to read out most of it because it's pretty self-explanatory, I think. I'm going to answer it. Hopefully, it will be relatively short because it's hot out here and we need to explore the rest of this temple.
"My girlfriend and I have been together for almost 2 years and are moving in together soon."
Cut to the chase, he found a very flirty text between his girlfriend and her ex fling. He's asking for our opinion. They've been going out for 2 years, he's moving in together soon with her. "We both love each other and are rarely apart. Last week, my girlfriend came home from a week night very drunk. There was a conference in town and she went out with co-workers and was wined and dined all night. While in bed together, she kept texting people and going on Instagram. She usually doesn't toss and turn, but the booze made it hard for her to sleep. She also doesn't usually text much, and this made me a little suspicious, but I tried to let it go. I figured she was talking to old colleagues that were in town."

Boom! Stop. I'm David Tian, PhD. And in this video, I answer the question: Are bad boys needy too? Welcome to the Man Up show.
Masculinity for the Intelligent Man. I'm David Tian, PhD and this is Man Up!
Hi. I'm David Tian, PhD. For over the past 10 years, I've been helping hundreds of thousands of people in over 87 countries attain success, happiness, and fulfillment in life and love. Welcome to the Man Up show. I have a question here from the private Man Up Facebook group, and it's a very instructive question. A lot of this video will be reading out the question and analyzing the situation. The answer to his particular question, his specific question, is pretty straightforward. What's really instructive and interesting for our readers or our viewers, and the guys in the Man Up group, is actually understanding what is happening here, and the fact that it's such a great example of a lot of the themes in previous videos.
But before I do that, I just want to show you I'm in Bangkok overlooking this beautiful river here that runs through the middle of Bangkok. Let me see if I can show you some of the sunset behind me and the tricky part will be whether you'll be able to see it – oh, it's just white now. Let's see if I just do the little focusing here, and – or if during the shooting, if I were to bring that down. Oh, yeah. There you go. You get to see more of what it actually looks like.
