You care too much about your numbers, your validation, what other people think, what you look like, who likes you, who pays attention to you, what everyone else is doing, what opportunities everyone else is getting, what shows they are playing, how many streams they have, how many streams you have, how many followers you have! And I’m here today to say “WHO FUCKING CARES my friends!” “Who Cares”. 

You may be spending way too much time caring about things that truly don’t matter at the end of the day.

Hey Everyone!

Wow episode 132 I’m really proud of this little podcast and that I’ve been able to bring you some valuable info, suggestions, techniques straight from my coaching vault to you.

Today I want to talk about something that I help Artists deal with a lot due to the nature of what we do. Maybe things have been a little slower not as fast paced since march 2020, but now things are starting up again and that transition is really hard because we are going at a pace that we need to get used to again, or do we?

I was very guilty of going at a pace for many many years that was a little over the top, I found that I was a person who could sleep just a few hours a night and still function well, still get all the things done and in some respects I maybe even got so used to that pace, that I didn’t know how to be productive unless I was going going going all the time, pulling all nighters and trying to hit challenging deadlines.

One of the biggest challenges for artists is maintaining good mental health. And there are many pieces to the puzzle for an artist or anyone for that matter to maintain good mental health.
And one of those pieces to the puzzle is maintaining good energy and for the purpose of this podcast by energy I mean “good vibes type of energy” not necessarily physical energy however when you do get your positive thoughts and vibe energy into the positive and it stays there for longer and longer periods, your physical energy will increase as well as a result of that.

So one of the biggest ways in this industry to better your good energy is to look at the 5-10 that you spend a majority of your time with. Now caution to this because there are also people who have strong negative energy that maybe you don’t even spend that much time with but have a very large affect on you and your mood, your beliefs, your thought processes.

Because I’ve seen it in action. I help people, mainly artists right now build success in all corners of their lives.

I’m all about success, success in your self-love, self-development, relationships, career, health, finances, family and friends. That’s really what I strive for, for all of my clients.

And many of them do have success, in many different ways.

Part of striving for success, means having a well defined version of what is success is for you!

Aligning your version of success and what you are currently measuring your success on is a VERY important part of the process.

I can tell all of my clients that self-talk is important, they know that! That’s not a secret. But how do you go on a journey of self-discovery to reveal what your self-talk is and how to change it? That’s the question.

Not whether negative self-talk is bad for you and vice versa.

It’s how to change it!

First you must listen, you must become quiet enough to listen and often that unfiltered quiet time comes in the first 5 mins of the day. In 5 mins you can have hundreds of thoughts, or the same thoughts repeating hundreds of times. It’s astounding.

I get asked all the time about “who to trust in the music business”.

And I’ve said this many times before but today I”m going to dedicate an episode to it because I think it’s that important.

No matter what you do from here on out.

The most important person to trust is yourself!

I’ve talked before about coaching and how I’ve had clients tell me that initially they were doing the coaching exercises and following through with showing up every week so as to not disappoint me.

And then there sort of becomes a shift where they started showing up so as to not disappoint themselves. This is a very very important mindset shift.

The reason being is that if you don’t have this mindset and operate in this mindset the easiest person to disappoint is yourself. 

But it often comes with the BIGGEST consequences.

You don’t stick to your plans, you don’t follow through, you don’t have any self-trust, your self-esteem often falls away and there is a cycle of self-deterioration.

Self-Trust is KEY!

Don’t let that 1 person in the room who criticizes you or gives you bad vibes, occupy one more minute of space in your brain!

Remember that you are taking away from the amazing positive energy that so many other people are giving you and trying to give you by being too caught up and affected by the 1 person who doesn’t appreciate what you’ve done.

Don’t do yourself a disservice and those who really are supporting you, it’s not worth it.

There is feedback that is worthy and you should listen to in order to better yourself and then there is feedback that is just downright negative and attempts to bring you down.

That 1 person does not and should not have the effect on you that they might be having right now.

I give you permission to let any negative energy from that 1 person go and leave it behind.

I was thinking how incredibly difficult it is for different personalities to co-exist in the industry. A lot of musicians are extremely introverted by nature some are not at all. And those that aren’t find it a bit easier to do the public stuff for sure. Those that are introverted like me often struggle hard with this. 

One of the things that I hear from people a lot is that it’s not the music, the creation of the music or getting that done etc. It’s dealing with the people, the personalities. So I wanted to talk to those of you who are more introverted and perhaps have trouble asserting yourself sometimes and give you some guidelines or as I call them “rules of engagement for the music business”. These have helped me over time immensely.
