One of the challenging things in the world of social media is consistency. I can tell you that I am guilty of this at least once a week. Feelings of insecurity, comparing myself to other bloggers and just not having enough content to post are several reasons why you don’t find me on the ‘gram every single day. Is consistency even possible? and if so, how can one find work/life balance?

I had the pleasure of speaking with one of my good friends, Ijeoma Kola on her social media journey and how she is able to run a successful blog, Youtube and Instagram all while attaining her PhD. Comparison is the thief of joy and social media can be a breeding ground for this type of negative thinking if your self-love isn’t taken seriously.

Self-love is like a muscle that you have to exercise on a regular basis. While it can be a challenge especially in the age of social media, not all hope is lost sis! Monitoring our screen time, selectivity choosing what we want to see and giving ourselves time for self-care are some ways we can combat the feelings of insecurity when we’re scrolling.

Three years ago this month when I decided to fully embark on my vegan journey, I was unsure of my future as a blogger.

Not only did I start eating 100% plant-based, I also decided to:

No longer support companies that test on animalsNo longer support companies that kill/abuse animals for use in fashion and home decor andNo longer support the fast-fashion industry

With all these new restrictions that I laid out for myself, the opportunities seemed limited…or so I thought. The opposite happened; brands were reaching to me left and right and I didn’t really understand why until I spoke with creative girl boss, Cece Olisa.

Cece has made a name for herself in the blogging world and has worked with many well-known brands. As a plus-size woman who enjoys fitness, she decided to carve out a space for herself in that category not because of trends but because these are two topics she was passionate about. She soon realized that there was a need for the two to coexist together. Cece was able to quit her corporate job and make a living off of her blogger income as well as her successful conference event, Curvy Con.

In today’s episode, Cece talks about how she was able to find her “niche within a niche” and thus create something that was unique and valuable to not only her audience but to brands as well.
