Tobias Klauke is a math teacher onboard our hospital ship, the Africa Mercy. One day his sixth-graders were talking about circles and the value of Pi.

Huron, California, is an agricultural community. Most residents live in poverty.  Many don’t own a car. 

The countries Mercy Ships serves have little or no healthcare delivery system. The children suffer from orthopedic problems made much worse because of the lack of treatment.

Libby Morse volunteers on our hospital ship as a pediatric ward nurse. One day, she walked into a treatment room to grab some materials to change a dressing. 

Seeing a need and doing something about it is the hallmark of a merciful heart. 

Osman Kamara was just a child when he was severely burned in a house fire in Sierra Leone, West Africa. The local hospital wanted to amputate his legs. 

Kathleen Magowan taught school in Simsbury, Connecticut. Her twin brother had always managed her finances. 

The countries Mercy Ships serves have little or no available healthcare. Parents with children with severe health problems have little hope. 

Several Mercy Ships crew visited a children’s hospital in The Gambia. 

Breakfast onboard our hospital ship, the Africa Mercy, is served at 6:30. The dining room crew wake up before the crack of dawn to begin preparations—brewing fresh coffee, wiping down the tables, setting out trays of oatmeal, eggs, and other breakfast foods.
