Leigh McKay and her friends wanted to help girls in developing countries who struggle against impossible odds.  Here’s Leigh’s story:

People often think that you must be a medical professional to serve onboard our hospital ship.  But our ships are floating cities, and we need all kinds of skillsets.

Evie McGhee is very familiar with military life and frequent relocation.  She moved 18 times during her husband’s 25 years of service in the Navy.

It was the top of the fifth inning in a high school baseball game in Athens, Texas.  Suddenly, a baseball fan named Joe Boyd collapsed in the stands.

I never get tired of hearing about the transformations of lives onboard our hospital ship.  A crew member in our Admissions Tent describes a special admission:

Mercy Ships volunteer Kevin visited a local prison in Liberia.  A man named Karim called out, “You’re my only hope of getting out of here!”  He thought Kevin could bribe the authorities with money.

Often, volunteering changes the volunteer as much as the ones being helped.  Juli Marley describes her own experience

Mercy Ships goes to countries where healthcare is very limited.  People suffer with conditions that could easily be treated in more developed countries.  They also suffer emotionally, as well as physically, because they’re often rejected and isolated.
