Lexington, Kentucky metal band StormToker plays an eclectic blend of music styles, but are grounded by a love of thick, heavy riffs as the one constant. Four vocalists trading off lead, backing, and harmony roles, unique instruments for metal such as saxophone and keyboards/synthesizers, and guitar work inspired by thrash, prog, classic rock, southern rock and as the band name suggests, stoner metal, doom, and sludge.

Formed as a side project in 2017 by guitarist Anthony Grigsby, bassist David Andrew Langley, and drummer Donte Montgomery, the band first played live as a power trio in June 2018 after the ends of their previous bands. This lineup released three records with "Toke One" in 2018, "Toke Two" in 2019, and "The Mother Tree" in 2022. After the addition of Travis Taylor on keys and saxophone in Dec 2022 the band released their first record as a quartet in Dec 2025 with "These Edibles Ain't Shit".

DUEL is a band from Austin, Texas, that plays psychedelic stoner doom metal. They love the spooky sounds from the early 70s. Their music is super intense and old-fashioned, with heavy beats and loud guitars. It's turned up to the max! Their album "Valley of Shadows" is full of songs about magic, curses, and devils. There are eight awesome tracks that show off their skills, from wild metal anthems to guitar battles like Thin Lizzy, and fast shredding like Motorhead. They recorded these songs during the winter at a studio in the Texas desert, and you can almost feel the late-night jam sessions in every tune. It's probably their best album yet, with solid rock songs from start to finish. Their fifth album, "Breakfast With Death," has nine fast and heavy tracks that capture the energy of their live shows. Each song is like a party, full of energy and excitement!

Portland's dark rock trio Hoaxed has released their new album "Death Knocks" through Relapse Records, marking a refined evolution from their previous work, "Two Shadows." The band, now including new bassist/vocalist April Dimmick, has incorporated influences from their tours and Dimmick’s heavy metal background to create a more energetic and textured sound. The album features eight tracks, including notable songs like "Where the Seas Fall Silent," "Kill Switch," and "The Family," characterized by dynamic rhythms and powerful vocal performances. The band's writing and collaboration process thrived during performances over three years, leading to a cohesive and natural progression in their music, enhanced by the addition of cello elements to expand on their previous album. The album's themes revolve around life changes, hinted at by the album title and drummer Kim Coffel's pregnancy.

The album "Death Knocks" by Hoaxed explores themes of uncertainty, finality, and the unknown, with songs reflecting on life's final moments and the stories of revered women. Recorded at Falcon Recording Studios with producer Gabe Johnston and mixer Arthur Rizk, the album was completed in just eight days, resulting in a polished sound. The band sees recording as the culmination of their songwriting process, with a focus on storytelling and connection with their audience. Hoaxed is planning tours and music videos to support the album and is already working on their next project, eager to engage with their growing fanbase.

The Legalize Lex Music Festival, now in its third year, has quickly become a staple in the Lexington, Kentucky music scene.
