University of Michigan law professor and former U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade joins "The Metro" to help us analyze some of the most impactful decisions the court has made and recap the year's term. The fourth annual Obsidian Theatre Festival is taking place downtown this weekend, alongside GhostLight Arts Initiative's inaugural Detroit Impact Arts Conference. Obie Award-winning playwright and theater producer Garlia Jones — also the creative producer for the Obsidian Theatre Festival — joins "The Metro" to discuss the events and how they're helping to amplify Black art and storytelling. Plus, Detroit's 66th annual Ford Fireworks take place tonight at dusk, officially setting off Detroit's firework season in preparation for the Fourth of July. Fire prevention specialist Paul Rogers joins the show to share some safety tips.

Outlier Media has commissioned the Detroit Metro Area Communities Study to survey over 1,000 Detroiters about their reasons for voting and priority issues this election season. Sarah Alvarez, founder and editor-in-chief of Outlier Media, joins "The Metro" to discuss the results. Also, performance artist Pamela Sneed and Carr Center President Oliver Ragsdale Jr. join the show to talk about their upcoming performance honoring "Big Mama" Thornton.

Roughly 40,000 households across metro Detroit are without power after strong storms moved through the region on Wednesday and Thursday. Brian Calka, vice president of Distribution Operations for DTE Energy, joins "The Metro" to give an update on restoration efforts. Also, the Michigan Glass Project is hosting a glass, music and art festival at the Russell Industrial Center this weekend. MGP Co-founder Drew Kupps joins the show to discuss the 10th annual event.

Local nonprofit Detroit Future City hosted a panel discussion and Juneteenth celebration on Tuesday to commemorate Black liberation and wealth generation through homeownership. Panelist Krysta Pate, founder and CEO of The Ownership Initiative, joins "The Metro" to discuss what Juneteenth means to her, and how homeownership is empowering Black Detroiters.

This past weekend, former President Donald Trump made a stop in Detroit for a small engagement with Black voters. WDET’s Russ McNamara and Sam Robinson of Axios Detroit join "The Metro" to unpack the event. Plus, two transit experts join the show to talk about the safety of roundabouts as they expand around southeast Michigan.
