The Micah Hanks Program

On the evening of September 19-20, 1961, New Hampshire residents Barney and Betty Hill were returning from a vacation in Canada when they noticed a strange light moving through the sky in the distance. Over the course of the next 45 minutes, their lives would forever change, as they became participants on one of history's best known--and most controversial--alleged UFO sightings.

This week on The Micah Hanks Program, we present a historical analysis of the Hill case, and examine some of the finer details about the purported occupants aboard the craft the couple observed, as well as the bizarre claims of their abduction and medical examination on board a UFO.

For decades, humans have sent probes into space to explore distant planets, and to go in search of evidence of things like life on other worlds. If humans engage in such activities, why wouldn't aliens do the same? Is it possible that Earth has ever been surveilled by extraterrestrial technologies, and that searches for non-terrestrial artifacts could reveal their presence close to Earth?

Beatriz Villarroel is a postdoctoral researcher holding the position of Nordic Fellow with Stockholm University, Sweden. Among other positions she holds, she is Principal Investigator of the "Vanishing & Appearing Sources during a Century of Observations" project, otherwise known as the VASCO Network. This week, she joins us to discuss the scientific search for non-terrestrial artifacts on The Micah Hanks Program.

For centuries, astronomers have claimed to see strange lights and other phenomena on the Moon. Ranging from points of light, to mysterious colored bands, and even images since the dawn of the Space Age depicting curious structures, many have wondered if Earth's Moon could be far more mysterious than most would ever contend.

This week on The Micah Hanks Program, we examine sightings of mysterious transient lunar phenomena (TLP) observed in locations like the Aristarchus crater, as well as a mysterious set of structures or "spires" that have caused debate for decades. Could there be more to the Moon and its many secrets than conventional astronomical thinking has taught us?

As the search for extraterrestrial intelligence from beyond Earth continues, many scientists are now wondering whether the eventual discovery of ET may come in the form of a technology--perhaps even artificial intelligence--that was created by aliens, rather than the actual biological lifeforms themselves.

Joining us this week to discuss these possibilities is Seth Shostak, senior astronomer at the SETI institute. We dive into the potential existence of alien A.I, as well as NASA's forthcoming UAP study, and much more this week on The Micah Hanks Program.

On September 16, 1994, sixty-two students at Ariel School in Zimbabwe witnessed something incredible that has impacted many of their lives to this day. Today, their story remains one of the most striking incidents involving a landed UFO craft ever recorded, and yet many questions about the case still remain.

Joining us this week is researcher and filmmaker Randall Nickerson, who traveled to Zimbabwe and other locations in order to fully document this incredible story in his film, Ariel Phenomenon. We discuss the famous 1994 incident, and the effect it had on the lives of the witnesses in this installment of The Micah Hanks Program.

Since the dawn of the Space Age, there have been questions about the development of experimental technologies, and whether some aerospace innovations may have been left out of the history books. Could some black program developments account for modern accounts of unidentified aerial phenomena, or are these craft really otherworldly in origin?

Joining us this week on The Micah Hanks Program is researcher Olav Phillips, author of books like "The Secret Space Age" and others that discuss secret space programs, the concept of breakaway civilizations, Nazi UFOs, and much more.

In March 1967, Spanish-speaking intercept operators with the U.S. Air Force Security Service at Homestead AFB south of Miami, Florida, supposedly overheard Cuban transmissions involving a pair of MiG-21 jet fighters that were scrambled to investigate a mysterious intruder, resembling a large, metallic sphere with no wings or any sign of a propulsion system.

What happened next has become a legend in modern UFO lore... and one researcher's attempts to confirm details about the so-called Cuban jet UFO incident even resulted in a visit from two men in black suits. This week on The Micah Hanks Program, we examine the infamous case, and why the story led to a multi-agency investigation of the UFO researchers who became involved.

On June 24, 1947, pilot Kenneth Arnold was flying over Mount Rainier Washington when he observed a group of unusual flying objects that he could not identify. Sharing news of his sighting when he landed shortly afterward, Arnold's account soon made it into American newspapers, and even came to the attention of the United States government. In short, the era of the "Flying Saucer" had begun, giving rise to one of the most controverisal topics in recent history: unidentified flying objects.

This week on The Micah Hanks Program, to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Arnold's sighting, we are joined by author and historian Charles Lear, whose new book, The Flying Saucer Investigators, chronicles the history of the researchers who went in search of answers to this enduring mystery of the space age.

Widespread interest in unidentified aerial phenomena, as well as their possible nature and origins, has surged since 2017. World governments, scientists, and civilian organizations have all begun to weigh in on the matter, with the latest effort being announced by NASA, which plans to conduct its own study of the phenomena beginning in late 2022.

However, with the question over UAP and their origins also comes the question of intent: if some of these UAP are intelligently-controlled, technological devices, then what is their purpose, and what are the motives and intention of their operators? This week on The Micah Hanks Program, we explore these questions and analyze what UAP behavior in some of history's most well-documented cases might convey about their possible intent.

The Uintah Basin is one of Utah's most diversely scenic regions. Nestled in the northeastern corner of the state, it is also the location of one of the most infamous alleged hotspots for UFO sightings, cattle mutilations, and other unexplained phenomena in the world: Skinwalker Ranch.

This week on The Micah Hanks Program, we look at the history of the Uintah Basin dating back to prehistoric times, and survey the myth and mystery that support one of the modern hubs for the strange and unsettling. Why do locations like Skinwalker Ranch seem to be an "attractor" for the UFO mystery, and what can be learned from studying them there?
