Fertility can feel like a never ending math problem you did not sign up for, and the loudest advice usually comes with a monthly subscription. We wanted something calmer and more useful, so we brought on Kirsten Karchmer, founder of Conceivable and one of North America’s leading fertility experts, to talk about what actually moves the needle when you’re trying to get pregnant and stay pregnant.
We get into the “magic formula” she sees after helping more than 10,000 women conceive, and it’s refreshingly simple: build a cycle that shows your body is resourced, regulated, and ready. That means paying attention to energy (without caffeine or adrenaline masking fatigue), aiming for a steady 28 to 32 day menstrual cycle, and noticing whether PMS, sleep changes, anxiety, acne, spotting, clotting, or cramping are waving a red flag. Kirsten explains why the menstrual cycle is one of the most powerful women’s health tools we have and why so many of us were never taught to use it.
Then we go practical with basal body temperature tracking, how to take it without overcomplicating your mornings, and what temperature patterns can suggest about inflammation, cervical fluid, progesterone support, and the luteal phase. We also talk stress and the nervous system, why the fertility journey can create grief and even PTSD, and simple tools like breathwork, yoga, visualization, and tapping.
Finally, Kirsten breaks down her no panic approach to timing sex, including the days 11 to 17 strategy that helps you cover the fertile window without living inside ovulation trackers.
