  • A Peek Inside My Goal Journaling Process (with a FREEBIE for you!)

In this episode, we'll delve into the power of goal journaling as a crucial tool in your morning routine for achieving your dreams and overcoming the obstacles that hold you back.

Why Goal Journaling Matters (Step 1):
Setting clear goals is the first step toward success. Jen recommends breaking your year into quarters and specifying a goal for each one. This ensures that you always know what you're working towards, preventing confusion and doubt.

The Power of Your "Whys" (Step 2):
Jen emphasizes the importance of listing your "whys" - the reasons behind your goals. Your "whys" become your anchor during challenging times, reminding you why you embarked on this journey.

    Taking One Action (Step 3):
Contrary to overloading your to-do list, Jen advises focusing on one actionable step each day. This approach builds self-trust and keeps you on the path to success.

    Choosing Your Feelings (Step 4):
Decide in advance how you want to feel throughout the day. By consciously choosing your emotions, you can counteract the primal brain's attempts to derail your progress with negative feelings.

    Empowering Thoughts (Step 5):
Finally, Jen highlights the importance of selecting powerful thoughts to guide your day. By actively choosing your thoughts, you can combat doubt and stay focused on your path to success.

    Conclusion:
Goal journaling is a transformative habit that helps you clarify your thinking, plan your actions, and achieve your greatest potential. It may take time to become automatic, but the rewards are immeasurable.

Remember, your wings are ready—let's take flight toward your dreams.

    • Fresh starts usher in optimism, leading to increased happiness, reduced stress, and a sunnier outlook on life.
    • September, with the kids back in school and the year's final quarter approaching, is the ideal time to capitalize on this optimism.

    Actionable Steps:

    • Reflect on where you stand and set meaningful goals to make the most of the remaining four months of the year.
    • Consider adopting new, positive habits to propel you toward your aspirations.
    • Embrace the power of letting go of anything that's holding you back starting now.

  • Taking Flight: Life Beyond the Comfort Cave

I'm excited to dive into a thought-provoking topic today – The Comfort Cave. If you've been following me on LinkedIn, you've likely come across my discussions on this intriguing concept. Join me as we explore the Comfort Cave, its origins in our primal brain, and how it impacts our growth journey.

    Episode Highlights:

    1. Understanding the Comfort Cave:
Have you ever heard of the Comfort Cave? It's that mental haven we retreat to when seeking emotional safety and comfort. This imaginary space is deeply rooted in our primal brain, an ancient part of us designed to keep us safe, alive, and comfortable. The name "Comfort Cave" stems from our primal brain's instinctive aversion to effort, stemming from prehistoric survival mechanisms.
    2. The Primal Brain and Growth:
Our primal brain, unaware of the modern era we live in, equates any exertion with potential danger. It employs feelings of doubt, fear, imposter syndrome, and confusion to dissuade us from venturing out of our comfort zones. These emotions often halt our growth journey, keeping us rooted in familiarity.
    3. Embrace Discomfort for Growth:
While the Comfort Cave offers security, it's not conducive to growth. Growth requires us to step out, leaving behind the comfort and safety it provides. Acknowledging that the discomfort we experience is a result of our primal brain's protective mechanism can aid in navigating these challenges. Remember, discomfort is a sign of growth in the making.
    4. The Role of Self-Care:
Is there a time when staying in the Comfort Cave is beneficial? Absolutely, especially when we need self-care and rejuvenation. Purposefully choosing to retreat into the comfort zone for rest and recharge is healthy. Visualize cozy scenes with twinkle lights, a cup of tea, and a good book – moments designed for self-care.
    5. Balancing Comfort and Growth:
It's essential to evaluate your time spent in the Comfort Cave. Are you there to prioritize self-care or inadvertently hiding from growth? Distinguish between these two motives as you reflect on your relationship with your comfort zone.

    Conclusion:
I encourage you to contemplate your Comfort Cave and its role in your growth journey. Recognize the primal brain's influence and how discomfort is intertwined with progress. Whether you're seeking moments of self-care or pushing beyond your boundaries, understanding the dynamics of the Comfort Cave can transform your relationship with discomfort and growth.

  • Butterfly Goo & Your Growth Journey

In today's episode, we're diving into a captivating topic – the profound lessons we can learn from the growth journey of butterflies. I often use nature's wisdom to illustrate our personal development path, and butterflies are a remarkable example that holds valuable insights.

    Episode Highlights:

    1. Metamorphosis and Growth:
As we find ourselves in mid-August, the sight of butterflies dancing around my garden serves as a reminder of the transformative power within us. Drawing from my recent "Accelerate Your Growth" series, where I frequently use nature analogies, butterflies symbolize our potential for growth.
    2. The Hidden Beauty of Cocooning:
Similar to a butterfly's stages of metamorphosis, we too undergo changes from within. The cocoon phase, often overlooked, holds significance. During this time, the caterpillar liquifies into a formless state, laying the foundation for its wings, body, antennas, and legs – essential components for its eventual flight as a butterfly. This process mirrors our growth journey, where old habits, thoughts, and behaviors melt away to allow our new selves to emerge.
    3. Navigating Transformation's Challenges:
Embracing change and letting go can be challenging, just like the caterpillar's goo phase. However, understanding that this struggle is integral to our transformation can ease the process. This phase signifies a necessary reinvention, rather than indicating something is amiss.
    4. The Struggle of Breaking Free:
The butterfly's emergence from the cocoon teaches us another profound lesson. The struggle it faces while pushing through the cocoon strengthens its wings and body, preparing it for its flight. Attempting to help a struggling butterfly might lead to its demise, as the struggle itself is crucial for its strength. Similarly, in our growth journey, the effort we invest shapes us into more resilient individuals.
    5. Embrace the Struggle as Growth:
A parallel exists between the butterfly's struggle and our own journey. Just as the butterfly must put in the work, we too must undertake our personal development efforts. Struggle is an inherent part of growth, equipping us to tackle challenges as we progress to higher levels of ourselves.
    6. Finding Meaning in Discomfort:
Reflecting on our growth journey, we're encouraged to reinterpret our discomfort. Instead of viewing it negatively, we can perceive it as a sign of progress. Whether we're in the Butterfly Goo stage, nurturing the necessary components for our evolution, or breaking free from old identities to embrace the new, discomfort signifies growth.

    Conclusion:
As we observe the majestic butterflies fluttering by, let's remember the transformative journey they undertake to become what they are today. Just like them, we undergo profound changes, and our struggles are stepping stones toward strength and success. I encourage you to see discomfort as a testament to your growth and embrace it as an essential part of your journey.

  • You're the Driver on Your Growth Journey {Accelerate Your Growth Day 7}

Welcome to the Flight School Podcast's Summer Shorts "Accelerate Your Growth" Episode 7.

In this episode, we delve into the significance of taking responsibility for our own success.

We discuss the importance of acknowledging our power to succeed or fail and how this realization empowers us to create the growth and success we desire.

Furthermore, we explore the impact of the choices we make, the chances we take, and the daily actions that contribute to our success journey.

    Episode Highlights:

    1. The Power of a Simple Reminder:
A post-it note on the computer monitor serves as a constant reminder that the responsibility for our success lies within us. Embracing this responsibility empowers us to take charge of our growth and achievements.
    2. You Are in Control:
Recognizing that we have the power to succeed or fail is a pivotal realization. It reminds us that no one else should care about our success as much as we do. Embracing this self-reliance drives us to take meaningful actions towards our goals.
    3. The Impact of Choices and Chances:
The choices we make and the chances we take play a crucial role in our success journey. Every decision and opportunity contribute to shaping our path to growth and accomplishment.
    4. Mindset and Accountability:
Acknowledging our responsibility for success means taking ownership of our actions and decisions. It is a powerful motivator that propels us forward and keeps us accountable for our progress.
    5. Overcoming Comfort and Excuses:
Breaking free from our comfort zone is essential for growth. We must recognize the impact of procrastination and excuses that hold us back from reaching our full potential.
    6. Continuing the Journey:
As summer winds down and the garden stops growing, we are reminded that our personal growth doesn't have to cease. We can always return to this series for rejuvenation and seek support from others to navigate the journey.

    Conclusion:
Taking responsibility for our success is an empowering realization that propels us forward on our growth journey.

Remember the power within you and let the post-it note on your monitor be a constant reminder of your ability to achieve greatness. And whenever you need a boost or support, know that you are not alone in this journey - reach out, explore new ideas, and keep nurturing your personal growth.

  • Refocusing Your Vision for Success {Accelerate Your Growth Day 6}

In this episode, we explore the importance of choosing the right perspective while working toward success.  It's natural to notice mistakes and challenges as a means of self-preservation, but fixating on them can hinder our growth and progress. We discuss how embracing the messy process is essential and how shifting our focus can lead to more motivation and positive outcomes.

    Episode Highlights:

    1. Seeing the Messy Path to Growth:
Our journey to success is always filled with mistakes, challenges, and misunderstandings. Embracing the messy nature of growth is crucial to making progress and learning from these experiences.
    2. The Impact of Perspective:
The glasses we wear represent our perspective on life and success. If we focus solely on what's going wrong, our energy and efforts dwindle, hindering our growth.
    3. Balancing Focus:
While it's essential to acknowledge and learn from our mistakes, it's equally important to celebrate what's going right. Shifting our focus to the positive aspects of our journey can boost motivation and propel us forward.
    4. The Rollercoaster of Growth:
As mentioned in a previous episode, growth is comparable to a rollercoaster ride with ups and downs. Embracing the ups and downs helps us appreciate the progress and growth that occurs during the journey.
    5. Taking Action and Creating Positive Outcomes:
When we focus on what's going right, we feel more motivated to take action. This proactive approach generates more positive outcomes and further fuels our success.

    Conclusion:
Remember, growth is not a linear path, but rather a messy and unpredictable journey. Instead of being overly critical of ourselves and fixating on mistakes, we must wear the right "glasses" that allow us to appreciate our progress and positive experiences.

So, take a moment to evaluate the glasses you're wearing on your journey and ensure they are the ones that align with your aspirations.
