  • Building a career FAST within financial services. Sabinder Robinson-Sandhu from Avamore Capital, is a young and thriving woman in finance making waves in the industry driving technology improvements

    Sabinder is Director of Operations at Avamore Capital. Having originally joined the firm in April 2018 as Marketing Coordinator, Sabinder has been key in the growth of the business, driving core strategies to build Avamore’s brand in the market and leading on operational changes to implement business efficiencies. She is involved in a cross section of the company and works particularly closely with the management team to drive improvements with the aim to create an outstanding customer experience. Sabinder is leading Avamore’s technology improvements, having delivered a brand-new calculator in 2022 and is currently implementing a new platform for use across the business. More recently, Sabinder has expanded her role to drive Avamore’s ESG initiative, developing strong foundations across all three aspects to future proof the business. Outside of Avamore, Sabinder is also a member of the Executive Committee for the Association of Short-Term Lenders and is particularly focused on driving connectivity and adding value to the wider sector.

    Pam and Nina are a mother daughter duo who own Pam Brown Mortgages, a mortgage and insurance company based in Bicester. Pam set up the company 12 years ago at her kitchen table and has grown the business ever since. Nina, completed her university studies 4 years ago and quickly came over to the family business to focus primarily on the insurances of their clients. Pam Brown Mortgages is a small family business who are trying to make a large impact within the mortgage and protection world using social media. Being a family business, their main focus is to help other families move into and keep their family homes and making the process as simple and easy as possible for all. Pam’s son, Joe, has now also entered the family business and they are in the process of creating a new company, Brown & Co Financial Planning, to expand the range of business available. While the family are not working, they are doing as much as possible for charity. Having raised around £25,000 over the last year for Crohn’s & Colitis which is a charity very close to the families’ hearts. This has been raised through events which have involved the entire industry.

She’s built houses, refurbed and flipped properties, has become a Landlord Queen, styled houses, staged showhomes and had her own successful property management company after leaving the corporate world, throwing the rule book out and doing it her way.


    Being an overcomer of domestic abuse, it’s her mission to help women to have financial independence. She wholeheartedly believes it gives you confidence, and by extension options, the ability to choose and make better choices, to never be stuck in unhealthy or unhappy relationships, and live a life you love, on your terms.


    After 15 years, she knows her stuff, and having lived a rollercoaster, slightly messy, chaotic, sometimes trans-atlantic and think outside of the box kinda life, her personal adventures have given her a wealth of invaluable and beautiful insights about people and relationships that complement her professional knowledge and allow her to help women to level up, harness their power to invest in property in a way that works for them.

  • Feel the fear and do it anyway. Kim McGuinley from Vibe Finance shares her breakthroughs with her career in Commercial Finance despite the fears.

    Prior to setting VIBE up in early 2018, Kim had spent the previous 12 years working for specialist banks in the Commercial Mortgage industry working closely with a closed panel of mortgage brokers/introducers and with underwriting her own cases at the outset, she would oversee each case throughout the entire process through to completion.
    This undoubtedly gave Kim the best oversight as to what challenges a lender faces and she saw a real opportunity to set up as a broker herself to utilise her skills and attributes gained throughout her career to really make a difference to her clients… and so VIBE was launched!
    She has used social media as her key marketing in building the business whilst showing the ‘real person’ behind the business.  A (very) busy mum of 2 children and when she’s not working, she absolutely loves spending quality time with her family whilst trying to squeeze a run in here and there!

  • Craig Skelton felt the culture shock of the male domination of the mortgage industry. He explains navigating minor conflicts and what he did to make a change in the narrative.

    Having worked in Financial Services for over twenty years at senior management in both the banking and estate agency mortgage services and having spent most of my career in large corporate firms, I always craved the freedom of owning his own business.
    In 2017, I started CS Mortgage Solutions, a mortgage brokerage firm founded on my core values of honesty, trust, and integrity. This has now grown to become CS Financial Group, a company with over twenty advisers offering financial advice in mortgages, equity release, pensions, investments, insurance and estate planning. Within the group, I also help and support mortgage brokers set up their own brand and business.
    Staying true to my core values, I also provide coaching and mentoring to self employed mortgage brokers who are looking to grow their own business. I understand that whilst it can be daunting, having experience and support on hand can really make a difference and I take pride in helping others achieve their goals.
    I also host the Mortgage Broker Broadcast podcast, which focuses on the broker and aims to help those considering a career in financial advice and also experienced advisers who are looking for help building their own business and brand.
