The Morning Cruise Replay

For 20 years, you've laughed and cried along with Dave, Bill and Carmen as the hosts of The Morning Cruise on The JOY FM. There's a lot to celebrate as we look back over the last 2 decades and all week long we've shared some of our favorite highlights with you. This special episode is all the highlights that we could fit into a week's worth of shows in the order of when they were on-the-air. 

As we compiled the list of highlights, we quickly realized that one day could be all of Chris Tomlin's stories. And that's exactly what we did on Monday. From his unintentional trip to the nude beach, his first concert, his daughter learning what he does, going scuba diving in Hawaii, and sharing a book with a taxi driver. 

On Tuesday, we shared a couple of bloopers: The time Carmen brought "Mr. Smith" along for the ride and the time Bill fell asleep on the mic. After that, we shared some of our favorite calls with Phoebe, a waitress at the Pancake Pantry in Nashville. Then we learned all about a Russian manicure. 

Grab the tissues for the first highlight from Wednesday, as we shared the story of Scottie who was inspired to reunite with her father thanks to a song from Brandon Heath and the surprises we had in store for her. We also shared our conversation with Zach Williams and the one-and-only Dolly Parton. Then, our good friends, Justin and Trish Davis shared the hilarious story of their honeymoon. 

We heard from a cast of characters on Thursday. Matthew West shared the heartfelt story of going on a trust walk with his daughter. And who could forget the time we surprised Renee, the mother of a girl who was killed by a drunk driver, with the debut of the song, "Forgiveness" along with meeting Matthew for the first time. Big Daddy Weave had us rolling when they told the story of their road trip stop at a weigh station. And after Carmen learned what a wheelbarrow was, we had to call her mom, Mohair, to see if she knew what it was. Then we surprised Mohair with the news that we would be bringing her to ChosenCon. And finally we heard about one of her favorite things to do, jury duty! 

To finish out the week, we heard from Crowder about the time he got a little help from the crowd to surf his way to the restroom and the time he got surfing lessons from Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder. We shared the most requested highlight after that with Steven Curtis Chapman's story of taking his family on a rafting trip down the Nile River. We quickly got reacquainted with the sibling trio, CAIN, and had to learn why Logan chose Diet Pepsi. Dave Barnes joined the fun with the story of the "squirrel mafia" in his backyard and the time he got asked an embarrassing question in Uganda. Finally, we ended on one more call to Phoebe with the time she met Brandon Heath.

All week long we've been sharing some of our favorite highlights over the last 20 years of The Morning Cruise with Dave, Bill and Carmen. On today's show, we've got some great stories from Crowder, Steven Curtis Chapman, CAIN and Dave Barnes. 

Crowder told us about the time he went crowd surfing and the time he got surfing lessons from Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam. 

The most requested highlight comes from Steven Curtis Chapman telling the story of taking his family rafting on the Nile River in Uganda. 

CAIN, the sibling trio, has become good friends of the show. On their last visit here, we had them re-introduce themselves. In that introduction, we learned that Madison was dealing with a nagging injury from doing the splits and that Taylor is now a Tampa resident because her husband, Steven Matz plays for the Rays. On that same day, we had to clear the air with Logan about his preference for Diet Pepsi. 

Anytime we have Dave Barnes in, we know we're gonna laugh. The first time we had him on the show, he told us about the Squirrel Mafia living near his house. And the last time he was with us, he shared a funny question that he got from a young orphan in Uganda. 

And before they had to head to the airport for the Pumpkin Festival in North Augusta, Dave and Carmen wanted to share one more hilarious call with Phoebe. This one was about her meeting Brandon Heath.

We had loads of laughter and tears on today's show as we shared more highlights of The Morning Cruise over the last 20 years. We started off with Matthew West sharing a beautiful story about a camping retreat with his daughter. And then we shared the story of his song, "Forgiveness" inspired by Renee who we surprised with the song and a visit from Matthew. 

After that, we shared the hilarious story that Big Daddy Weave told us about life on the road and having to stop at a weigh station. 

What's that thing you load up to haul stuff around in the garden? Depends on who you ask! 

Carmen's mom, who we affectionately call "Mohair" is a big fan of The Chosen. And when we found out that we would be going to do interviews at ChosenCon we had to bring her with us and we surprised her with that news. 

Another favorite activity for Mohair is to go to jury duty. She was excited for her next turn and shared what happened the last time she went! 

For some, a "pallet" is something you load up with goods to ship somewhere else. In the South, it means something entirely different.

We're celebrating 20 years of The Morning Cruise with Dave, Bill and Carmen this week by sharing some of the highlights over the last 2 decades. On today's show, we had quite a few surprises.

We kicked things off with the time we surprised Scottie, a listener who reunited with her father because of a Brandon Heath song. 

Before we moved on, we had to have a Midweek Praise Break. This week's songs included Blessed Assurance by CAIN (with David Leonard), Good Good Father by Chris Tomlin, and Gratitude by Brandon Lake. 

We got the surprise when we learned we would be talking to none other than Dolly Parton. All because of her duet with Zach Williams. 

Carmen is surprised to see Waymo cars on the road in Tampa, and a few weeks ago some Tampa residents were surprised to see one of those vehicles going the wrong way! 

Justin and Trish Davis are full of surprises and stories each time they visit. And that was definitely the case when Dave asked about the story of their honeymoon. 

We were surprised to get a phone call this morning from Scottie after her phone was blowing up from friends who heard us sharing her story. 

And we've got more surprises to come on Thursday and Friday.

We had a lot to do on The Morning Cruise today. Dave got a picture from his grandkids and is planning to do Thanksgiving with them. 

It's Day 2 of the JOY Drop Shop so if you haven't already done your shopping, go do it! 

A 61-year-old woman can do a lot while also setting a world record for planking! 

As you age, you've got to do a lot to monitor your health. We learned recently it can monitor your blood pressure as well! 

After seeing pics of fall foliage, we want to do a show where the leaves change colors! 

40 years ago today, Dave was doing a lot to prepare for the birth of his first born son. 

If you are a Nick Saban or Alabama fan, you'll want to do what Carmen did and watch/listen to This Week with Theo Von's podcast with Nick as his guest. 

Talking about forgiveness is one thing, to do the act of forgiving is another. Bill shared the findings from the State of the Bible report on forgiveness and that led to a little more discussion on justification. Carmen then shared some thoughts from Beth Moore and Dave talked about turing regret to praise. 

After playing a for King & Country song, Carmen was reminded that we have so much to do to prepare for their upcoming visit in a couple of weeks. 

Bill has a few last minute things to do before he heads out west for his son's wedding.

We had a lot to pack into today's show and some unpacking as well. 

A few weeks ago, Carmen saw that her packs of Oikos yogurt had changed but now she's wondering if they reversed course. 

Have you got all your packs of Halloween candy ready? Carmen's got a list of the best and worst options out there. 

Bill wants an award as he is all packed up for his trip to Nevada more than 48 hours from leaving. But Carmen needed him to make room for a gift he will find very useful on the trip. 

With Bill out next week, Carmen and Dave pondered the idea of sharing some favorite moments from their 20 years as a show and wanted to know which stories you wanted to hear. 

As more Americans are returning to work rather than working from home, Dave unpacked all the costs and just how much the average American spends in getting to and from work. 

It's Wednesday and we've got a worship-packed Midweek Praise Break for you with Firm Foundation, Living Hope, and Great Is Thy Faithfulness. 

The 16th annual State of The Bible report is out and Bill had a lot to unpack from it.
