Well... we thought we would be back on track this morning, but flood waters continued to rise around Dave's house and he was left stranded at home without a way to get to the station. So Bill and Carmen looked for ways to provide assistance to Dave while also try and do the show. 

Bill tried to assist his granddaughter with a lesson on using her inside voice, but she certainly prefers her outside voice. 

Carmen shared the story of an older man with a toddler that she came across on top of the mountain in Banff and how he came to the aid of his grandson was a reminder for Carmen of how we behave with God. 

As many in our listening areas go back to school, Bill provided some helpful tips. 

While many are in need of assistance after Hurricane Debby passed through, there are many still dealing with the winds and rain of the storm as it continues on a path through other parts of our listening area. 

Bill gave us an update on the Olympics and Carmen helped those who are have a hunger for football. 

While Dave was stranded at home this morning, he turned his attention to the grandkids and helped them out by making breakfast.

We're back from vacation but Debby put a damper on all the things we wanted to talk about this morning. The storm even caused a bit of chaos for us as we had to move Dave and Bill into another studio because of a roof leak and Carmen had to do the show from her home studio.

As we got settled in though, Bill shared the news that his daughter is pregnant.

Dave gave us an update on Emilie's health journey.

Carmen shared about the wildfires in Banff.

Bill had some thoughts on rest after having had some on vacation.

Carmen highlighted Scottie Scheffler's gold medal win in the Olympics yesterday. 

Dave told us how he learned that his grandkids are early risers. Carmen is still adjusting back after spending 10 days in the mountain time zone. 

Bill told us about Adam Grant's thoughts on the benefits that humans get when being near a body of water. 

And Carmen gave us a few athletes to watch and some with local connections competing in the Olympics.

Carley Boyette sat down with Nika King who stars in the new movie, Sound Of Hope. As soon as she read the script, she was up for it, regardless of the role.

Carmen, Haley and Dave were up late last night when they got a text asking if they were up for shooting a video for Brandon Lake. The only window of time available was last night to get the video done. They shared how it all went down and Bill missed out on all of it!

Carmen has been up for going to Banff for awhile now and now that the time has come, the temperatures are reaching record highs!

Dave had a couple of stories that he thought Bill would be up for hearing about, dealing with health and nutrition and education.

When Carmen had the alarm company representative over the other day, he wanted to know if she was up for having the alarm installed tomorrow, the day before she has to be up at 4am to catch her flight to Canada!

Conflict Resolution, the Character of a father, Coffee and Counting Our Blessings were all part of the show today plus so much more! 

Bill got us started with some thoughts on resolving marital conflict.

Dave  then shared the story of a couple that had to start over after the man was in an accident that resulted in memory loss.

Carmen shared a funny story about her husband introducing their daughter over the phone to a security company representative.

Bill brought us a couple of baseball stories. One was on the mystery pitch of All-Star rookie pitcher, Paul Skenes. He followed that up with a blog post from the son of a former All-Star MLB pitcher about the character of his dad.

Dave started to discuss coffee and Carmen had some thoughts on mold and menopause. When Dave picked it back up, he told us about some new boutiques opening for Nespresso.

Carmen is excited for a new movie from Angel Studios telling the story of Dietrich Bonhoeffer coming to theatres in November.

Dave was reminded by Seph Schlueter about Psalm 40 and David counting his blessings.

Bill kicked things off this morning with news that people are holding on to their cars for longer than usual, even if they are a bit busted, crusted and disgusted. But, for Carmen, when she holds on to her steering wheel, she's having a hard time with a busted alignment job.

A Central Florida family is holding on to their matriarch a little tighter now that she's back from quite the ordeal in Turks & Caicos who was busted for ammunition in her luggage that she wasn't aware of. 

Carmen has been excited for the weather outlook in Banff for her vacation but it's slightly warmer than expected. Even with that weather, the trip is surely not going to be a bust! 

We recently sat down with Crowder and he had a story about meeting Richard Simmons that had us busting up! 

As the national anthem started at the Home Run Derby last night, many were saying, "Hold on, something's not right here!" A lot of folks are excited for the All-Star game and there is a lot of excitement around one of the starting pitchers. 

Bill ran into a coworker carrying around a mysterious bag in the office, and he had to stop in his tracks and find out what it was all about. Turns out it was some crusty old coffee grounds to help another coworker with a frog problem. Carmen was reminded of the frog problem she had last week and a text we got from another listener that had her disgusted. Dave, on the other hand, had a different type of animal in his house and Carmen was so disgusted she wanted to sell his house for him! 

Carmen came across an Owala in her office and she wanted to give it away so she asked for your selfies with your busted, crusted and disgusted water bottles.

In the wake of the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump over the weekend, we discussed the news and a few prayers in search of unity and repentance throughout the show today. 

Dave also gave us an update on his wife who had a bilateral mastectomy this past Friday in her fight against breast cancer. She had also been dealing with shingles, and Carmen has now been in search of ways to get the shingles vaccine. 

Bill has been in search of uniting with the birds in his backyard at the risk of causing some distance with his new neighbors. 

Carmen was in search of her glasses a couple of times in the last week only to realize a short time later that she was actually wearing them. 

We got a voicemail from a listener who actually had Corey Comperatore, the victim at Trump's rally, in her wedding as a kid. 

In addition to the news of President Trump, we also had several celebrity deaths over the weekend. The one that caught our attention the most was Richard Simmons. When we sat down with Crowder recently, he shared his story of meeting Richard and we're gonna go in search of that audio to share with you later this week. 

Dave shared about his experience waiting for his wife and a trip to Wendy's for lunch had him in search of his belongings after he left them behind at the fast food location.

We started off the show in the great beyond as Bill brought up Voyager 1 and was reminded of the immensity of God. 

Carmen is excited for the great weather forecast for her trip to Banff. 

On a recent trip to the beach, Jules was trying to help a woman in the water by telling her to take small shuffling steps to avoid the stingrays. But it seems as though her message might have been lost in translation. 

Jules is also praying that her daughters have a great time at camp. But they are a bit worried about her because she's been singing and to them, that's a tell that not all is right in her world. 

But she has bigger problems at home with the cat that is mad that her daughter is gone for the month of July. 

Bill then turned our attention to small bugs and tried to get big laughs. Carmen then followed it up with what she said was an insect story but was really about another small creepy animal. 

People Magazine has a new feature story on Natalie Grant and her daughter, Gracie. In the article, they discuss a near-fatal asthma attack that Gracie had in 2015 and the great lengths they went to to get her treatment. 

Dave followed that up with news on a patient that had a voice box transplant and we wondered if that would make for great changes to his voice. 

Family dinner time is a great time to bond and learn about the small things that make our family members happy and/or sad. 

The Greater Houston area is recovering from the effects of Hurricane Beryl and Convoy of Hope is on the ground and helping in big and small ways. 

Dave told us a great story about Kerry Livgren of the band, Kansas, and how he came back to Christ.

Do you follow The Morning Cruise on Instagram? If so, you had the chance to take part in a little poll to see who knew the Huguenots? That question came up towards the end of yesterday's show as Bill mentioned the birthday of John Calvin. In that mention, he brought up the group of people you know as the Huguenots. The problem...not many know who the Huguenots were!

Dave told us the story of Kerry Livgren of Kansas and how he came back to the faith after long conversations with the lead singer of another band told him the Truth.

Dave shared the story of Will Ferrell being embarrassed by his real first name growing up to share how Dave had his own name messed up growing up.

On this day, 515 years ago, John Calvin was born. Bill told us some of the historical significance, in particular, about the Huguenots. Sharing this story, Carmen was reminded of a time that they were meeting at a McDonald's and the conversation got a little bit louder than they anticipated.

When do you gather around the dinner table? We asked that question yesterday in a social media poll and Carmen gave us the results this morning.

2 of Dave's sons were in the path of Hurricane Beryl yesterday. In preparation for the storm, the 2 families gathered together to wait it out. Dave shared some of what happened to them. 

For a year, several people were gathered together for a Mars simulation experiment and they emerged from their enclosure over the weekend. 

If you or anyone you know is feeling some confusion about God's will, you may want to point them in the direction of an Instagram post that Carmen shared from her pastor. You may also want to highlight Matthew 7 and Ephesians 5 for them. 

While we separated during the holiday weekend, a strange bug brought many of us together on staff to figure out what it was. It didn't take long for Bill to come up with the answer. But it did continue to "bug" Dave for awhile.
