Lots of love on the show today as we celebrate Dave on his birthday with some affirmations from Carmen and Bill and...you! But one text we got seemed a little premature. 

Toby Keith was an artist who showed a lot of love to members of the American military. Carmen and her husband spent some time listening to his songs last night in the wake of the news of his passing on Monday night. 

With Valentine's Day one week away, Bill had some thoughts about how Romance is discussed in church and within the Gospel. One book that handles the subject matter in a great way is Keller's Meaning of Marriage .

Dave's mom loves strawberries. Wonder if she'll be first in line at Popeye's as they bring back their strawberry biscuits. 

Carmen shared the story of Joe Montana finding a unique way to tell his wife he loved her from the sidelines during games. 

Paige Brown used the story of affection between British sprinter Derek Redmond and his father to illustrate a point on the perfect father. 

And for those that love to be creative, productivity can be an issue sometimes.

Today's show started off on a sympathetic note as we turned our attention to the devastation the people of California are experiencing as a result of the torrential rain.

Carmen was sad to learn that Toby Keith passed away last night at the age of 62 after battling cancer. We also learned yesterday that King Charles has been diagnosed with cancer. 

Dave shared how his neighbors provided a little sympathy and comfort when they brought soup over for he and his wife to enjoy. 

Bill was lost in thought on a food that brings him comfort as long as he has some in stock....slices of sourdough bread. 

Comfort is on the minds of Southwest Airlines as they revealed plans to upgrade the seats on their airplanes. 

You might be a little uncomfortable to hear what Paige Brown says faith is not. But it is a good uncomfortable as it fixes your focus. 

You might get a little nostalgic for the songs that Brandon Heath mentioned in an Instagram video we did with him. 

Bill shared some random trivia this morning. 

Not sure if cole slaw is a comfort food. But is hot slaw worthy of being a state food?

Carmen's gonna feel like she has a missed connection once football season is done. She had a bit of that feeling over the weekend even though the Pro Bowl was on. 

She may use the downtime with the football off-season to reconnect with The Chosen. Many made their way to the movie theatres as Season 4 of The Chosen was shown on the big screens nationwide. 

Connecting with each other through service is an important part of our relationships with each other and the Lord as Bill reminds us with Galatians 5:13. 

Bill tried to do a new game with his Mental Madness Monday but Dave and Carmen were more interested in connecting over their love of sports. When he did get around to playing the game, he wanted Carmen and Dave to intentionally miss the connection when they filled in the blank. 

Carmen spent this Sunday connecting with others at the new campus of her church and related to that the message was on relationships. One surprising statistic that Pastor Aaron Burke was on the divorce statistics for couples that pray together.

It's that time of year again...FriendRaiser 2024 is right around the corner! 

Bill and his wife went to Willa's 1-year-old birthday party this weekend and he missed the opportunity to see the birthday girl as he had the time of the party wrong. 

With it being the Super Bowl this week, Carmen shared one of her favorite recipes for the big game. And then quickly made the connection with a certain pill she takes to help after that meal. 

And since she was thinking about  cheese, she was curious to find out about a new interest in rotary cheese graters.

After repeating part of our conversation with Josh Baldwin from yesterday (catch the whole interview HERE), we got down to business on this Groundhog Day. 

It's been awhile, but once again, Carmen shared one of her dreams with us. But the people that made an appearance in this one, don't share much of a connection. 

We heard from Punxsutawney Phil and General Beauregard Lee with their predictions and both groundhogs did not see their shadow which means were in for an early spring. Bill also found alternative names for the rodents we celebrate today. 

If you are a fan of the Groundhog Day movie, you can catch it again and again as AMC theatres will have a marathon showing today. If you prefer the small screen, Lay's Potato Chips enlisted one of the actors from the cult classic for a commercial that will feel like it is on repeat on ABC today. 

If you feel like the news is repetitive with the negative and sometimes scary stories, you can always find comfort in the Word of God. 

A new generation of BeeGee's fans is emerging as they play their songs on repeat hearing music they are unaccustomed to. Dave shared a couple of videos showing reactions to the songs. 

Earlier this week, Carmen was asking for a recipe for a protein energy ball and we revisited that conversation as she found a Cafe Latte Protein Ball recipe from the folks at FASTer Way To Fat Loss.

You might think we were in a rush to talk with Josh Baldwin this morning. The morning rush usually involves a stop at a drive-thru. Jules got us started with a conversation about her recent trip thru a drive-thru that caused a little bit of trouble. That led to Carmen sharing her story of hitting the overhang of a drive-thru and we heard from many others on their own issues in the drive-thru. For Dave, he was reminded of his time at McDonald's. As a former employee of McDonald's, he's not alone as 1 in 8 Americans have worked under the golden arches. 

Bill slowed things down a bit with a chat on the 'luxury of unhurried living'. 

Then Josh Baldwin joined us for the first time in studio. Although we've had a large cardboard cutout of him for awhile thanks to a bromance with Josh Baldwin. Josh shared some new music with us as Dave, Bill and Carmen got to know him.

It's the last day of January but all is not lost! Carmen reminded us that even though the first month of 2024 is done, there is an opportunity for a reset and you can always pick up the Bible and read again as it does not change! 

Dave's train of thought might have gotten lost for a second but he did manage to tell us that one of his granddaughters just lost her first tooth! 

Bill's youngest son celebrated his birthday yesterday and received all sorts of gift cards. Now he just has to make sure he doesn't lose them. 

Feeling like you're in a season of loss and a bit of a "tear down"? Paige Brown addressed that in last week's session of her Bible study on Daniel. 

For decades, Amelia Earhart and her plane have been lost. But some explorers think they found the plane deep in the ocean. 

With the colder weather today, it was not lost on Dave that today is National Hot Chocolate Day. 

Carmen is on the hunt for a no-bake protein energy ball recipe. Some of the responses were sweeter than she was looking for. Dave, on the other hand, wants the sugar in the form of a brownie from Jimmy John's.

On their list of daily priorities for Dave and Carmen is playing Wordle. Bill tells us that the purchase of the popular game by the New York Times happened 2 years ago. 

Carmen has another game from the New York Times that she makes sure to play on a daily basis. Dave has a few others he likes to play throughout the day. 

After yesterday's games, fans of the Chiefs and 49ers are making it a priority to find deals on travel to Las Vegas for the Super Bowl LVIII. But did the NFL have 2 other teams that they prioritized on their own list of who should be a part of the big game? 

Bill has not made exercise a top priority, but he's looking at rearranging that list altogether. Carmen has made her FASTer Way To Fat Loss workouts a priority. And if she can't get that in, she tries to get a 10-minute brisk walk in. 

Environmental activists have made some unusual moves to get the attention of others, but we question whether or not a destructive action is good for the cause. Bill points to Philippians 4:8 to support that conversation. 

Dolly Parton's got a lot of projects going on, but right now she is focused on finding look-a-likes for a new Broadway musical based on her life. 

Taylor Swift and Chiefs fans are focused on finding flights from Kansas City to Las Vegas and back. American Airlines has added a flight to their schedule in the hopes that travelers will choose them as their priority airline. 

For Dave's wife, Emilie, staying healthy in the midst of chemotherapy is her top priority right now. 

If you've been coughing and can't figure out why, Bill tells us that experts are looking into the issue.

Bill was discouraged by Carmen and Dave to not make a word game for the show today. So he took their advice and found another game to play. 

Carmen and a family friend have been trying to book a trip to the Bahamas for their vacation for awhile now. And just as Carmen was trying to find a way to get there within the parameters set forth by the airlines, the State Department issued a travel advisory to the island nation.

It was an active more on the show today as Bill told us about a movement to get 1000 hours outside. For Carmen, that's a lot of walking because of the benefits that come from that exercise. 

Carmen and her husband joined the launch team of a new campus for her church and they have a new appreciation for the effort it takes to make a "portable church" happen. Bill also acknowledged that the church experience has led to some disillusionment but encouraged the opportunity to join together with others in a church community. 

While out on a walk last night with her daughter, Carmen saw a rollerblader with light up wheels and now she wants some for herself. Chanel heard that and took action to call in and offer Carmen and her daughter some wheels because she owns a roller skating rink. 

Bill is committed to the idea of his watch also being a fitness tracker. He shared some insight on the latest fitness trackers available in 2024. 

For one listener, the Apple Watch saved their life. 

Dave, knowing that Carmen isn't much of a space fan, decided to take the action of sharing 2 space-related stories. 

Since to day is National Spouses Day, Carmen encouraged us to take action and send a message to our spouses today. 

Last week we caught up with Blessing Offor, all the way from Nigeria. He told us about his visit and the action he took of starting a non-profit organization in memory of his sister. 

Carmen's active imagination got the better of her with a sugar-related nightmare. 

Dave told us how M&M's took the action of creating an 'Almost Champions' ring made from their peanut butter.
