“The Peacemaker Corps/PSGFF 2020 will host the closing event to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations by showcasing the stories and visions produced by our global partners’ youth filmmakers 18 and under. They are our future,” explained Carole Sumner Krechman. Youth 18 and under were invited to make a 1- to 5-minute video relating what Peace in the Streets means to them. Films could be made on any device: phones, tablets, or video cameras. These films were judged by their message, not technical skills.   PSGFF has given global youth a voice by providing them with filmmaking and storytelling skills and technical tools. “Despite the global pandemic, or perhaps because of it, entries poured in,” noted Suzanne Harvey, the Executive Director of the Peace in the Streets Global Film Festival. “What are our youth thinking and feeling during this time of a global pandemic, international protests and uncertain future? You might be surprised at their thought provoking questions and commentary,” added Krechman.

Other meals were less regular.  He had a love-hate relationship with his half-brothers: he loved them, they hated him.         Life on the streets was tough. The only way to survive was to fight; at school, at home, hanging out on the stoop, or walking home from school.  One day when clowning with his pals on the way from school, one of his best friends collapsed right next to him. Hank thought he was kidding around. He wasn't. He was shot dead from an unknown sniper on a rooftop. It wasn't the first, or the last time, Hank would see death on those mean streets.

More than 91.6 million Americans have voted so far, as a majority of states are reporting record early voting turnout in the 2020 election. While it's too soon to know how that record turnout will translate to Election Day, the massive early voting numbers suggest a high level of enthusiasm for voting this year, despite the obstacles of a pandemic. These votes represent about 43% of registered voters nationwide, according to a survey of election officials in all 50 states and Washington, DC, by CNN, Edison Research, and Catalist. Sixteen states have already seen more than half of their registered voters cast ballots ahead of November 3.
