In our second week in the gospel according to John, in this sermon we look at John 1:19-34. The witness and testimony of John the Baptist is highlighted with his confession in verse 34, "And I have seen and have borne witness that this is the Son of God.” From the passage we see the principle, that all of Jesus' disciples are to behold Jesus and bear witness to Him.

This week we begin a new study through the gospel according to John titled "Written for Belief" and cover the prologue - John 1:1-18. The prologue introduces main themes and ideas found throughout the rest of the gospel narrative and centers on believing in the name of Jesus.

This week, as we continue our study through the Advent season, we examine Isaiah 7:14 and how Jesus is the promised son. "Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel."

As we continue in our study during the Advent season, this week we look at Micah 5:2. "But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days." Jesus is the promised Servant King born in Bethlehem.

This week we begin a new four week study through the Advent season. Each week we’ll be looking at how Jesus and His birth was in fulfillment to the Old Testament Scriptures. This week we see how Jesus is the fulfillment of the promised king.

This week, as we wrap up our study through 1 Samuel this fall, we look at 1 Samuel 13:1-23. In the midst of dire circumstances Saul does not keep the command of the LORD and does foolishly. His kingdom is promised to not continue as God has sought out a man after his own heart. From the text we are encouraged to trust and obey in the Word of God.

This week as we continue our study through the book of 1st Samuel we cover 1 Samuel 12:1-25. This passage covers a speech from Samuel. From the text we are encouraged to consider what great things God has done for us, (most fully and finally in Jesus), and conform our lives to God's will as revealed in His Word.

This week, as we continue our study through the book of 1 Samuel we look at 1 Samuel 11:1-15. The passage records a great story of victory and celebration and King Saul recognizing "The LORD has worked salvation." From the text we are encouraged to rejoice and be glad in God as we respond to the news that God has worked ultimate salvation in Jesus and He is the true and good King.

As we continue our study through the book of 1 Samuel, this week we cover 1 Samuel 10:17-27. From the passage Will exhorts us not to hide in the baggage and answer the call God has for our lives. We are to be active and intentional in pursuing God.

As we continue our study through the book of 1 Samuel, this week we examine 1 Samuel 9:1-10:16. From the passage we see Saul being chosen and anointed as king. We're invited to:

1) Revel in God's initiative kindness moving to rescue us in spite of our rejection of His Kingship

2) Rest in His Word which is trustworthy and faithful
