The Movie Mixtape

Episode 17 is here and we're reinvigorated after our holidays, ready to reignite this podcast all with our new mix: The Remix Mixtape.

Doing things a bit differently this go around. Dirk and Marcie will each pick a movie and then it'll be up to the other one to follow that with a film they believe connects to it. Get it? Got it? Good!

Dirk is up first with 2016's The Love Witch. Written and directed by Anna Biller, starring Samantha Robinson and a whole bunch of glamour. It's a technicolour feast for your eyes.

Join us as we discuss Sex Magic, used tampons, and men who lack eyebrows.

Another episode and the end of another mixtape. But for Episode 16 and our All-Timers mix we are going out with a bang as we are joined by podcasting A-Lister, Beks.

We are covering one of Beks' All-Timers, While You Were Sleeping, featuring Sandra Bullock and Bill Pullman. This is a brand new movie for both Dirk and Marcie, and a lot of laughs and loved are shared throughout.

The three discuss what for them makes a good romantic comedy along with knitwear, Bill Pullman's hair, and how you gotta be some kind of idiot to not love Sandra Bullock.

So sit back, relax, and enjoy the mix!

Episode 15 drives like a classic Ferrari as our All-Timers mix cruises on.

This week we discussed our Shared movie. The 1986 stone cold classic, Ferris Bueller's Day Off. It's written and directed by John Hughes, and featuring Matthew Broderick, Mia Sara, and Alan Ruck.

This one gets us right in those teenage high school feels and we have an epic discussion featuring iconic fashion, impending adulthood, and something something D-O-O economics.

So fasten your seatbelts, don't look at the odometer, and enjoy!

Ciao Bella! Episode 14 jets us into arrivals as our All-Timers Mixtape continues with a trip overseas, 1953's Roman Holiday. Directed by William Wyler, featuring Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck.

This is Marcie's pick and in many ways without this movie there would be no Movie Mixtape Podcast. It was with Marcie's love of this film, and desire to make known "old film cynic" Dirk watch it, that drove us into being.

So why don't you join us as we tuck into a gelato, drink some champagne for lunch, and talk about one of the most magical pairings in cinematic history.

Our Let's Dance Mixtape waltzes towards a close with Episode 12 of The Movie Mixtape. Fittingly it's all based around the man himself, David Bowie, as he stars in the 1983 film The Hunger directed by Tony Scott.

This is our New Movie for the mix so neither Dirk nor Marcie have watched this before. Did we like it? Or does it need a few Ch-Ch-Changes?

Join us as we discuss Susan Sarandon's hair, unobservant nurses, and how many doves can fit in one attic.

Send us your emails or voicemails to [email protected].

As always, sit back, relax, and enjoy the mix.

Hello! It's Episode 11 and we are putting on our Best Prom Dresses, bribing a marching band, and having to put on the belly before going out all for our shared movie: 10 Things I Hate About You.

And here comes episode 10! To celebrate hitting double figures we are watching Lovers Rock. This movie is one of five pieces to Steve McQueen's Small Axe Anthology Series that captures the experiences of the West Indian Community in London from the late 1960's to the early 1980's.

This is Marcie's pick for our Lets Dance Mixtape. Together we traveled back in time to one hot (in more ways than one) house party in 1980's London.

So join us as we celebrate shimming down drainpipes, incredible shirts, and some serious hip on hip swaying. Just don't ask us to play any of your Silly Games, ok?

Sit back, relax, and enjoy the mix!

Episode 9 lands with the start of a new Mixtape that we're calling Let's Dance.

This week it's Dirk's pick and he has plucked one straight from his heart. 1992's Strictly Ballroom by Baz Luhrmann.

Join us as we discuss cute movie dads, Marcie's inability to dance, and the most flipping beautiful film what you ever did see.

Could this be our best conversation yet? Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps...

So sit back, relax, and enjoy the mix.
