Man Utd 3 v Burnley 2
Premier League
30th August
A “must win” just three games into the new season is never a good sign, but with the way United are currently playing and the results they’ve had so far this season, you can understand why.
United led twice, but after more poor and basic defensive errors, Burnley kept pegging us back. Thankfully a VAR assisted spot-kick in injury time for a shirt pull on Amad gave us a penalty. Bruno converted and their were numerous cheers inside Old Trafford. I think more in relief than ecstatic celebrations.

Carabao Cup 2nd Round
27th August 2025
It's been 77 years since Manchester United last played away at Grimsby Town and on that day in 1948 we drew too. In fact, after last night's poor performance we now still haven't beaten Grimsby at their place in eleven games dating back to September 1909.
Football was very different back in them days and most goalkeepers have improved massively since the days of not wearing gloves and saving footballs made from animal bladders and leather. Unfortunately we currently have a "goalkeeper" that couldn't even catch a cold, let alone a football.
Onana has already had plenty of poor performances in a United shirt and in his first outing in one this season, he added to that tally in an absolute abysmal display in front of goal. No words can describe how frustrating he is between the sticks. Yes, United overall weren't great and Grimsby deserved all they got on the night, but when you have a supposed keeper as inept as Onana it surely does not help?
I'm sure Phil has the same opinion and more, enjoy.

24th August 2025
Premier League
Man Utd registered their first point of the season at Craven Cottage, but in truth it was scarcely deserved.
It could have been very different if Cunha hadn’t been very unlucky with two first half efforts, or if Bruno Fernandes hadn’t “Chrissy Waddled” his penalty into orbit.
But after going ahead in the second half through a contentious own goal that could easily have been disallowed by VAR, United sat back and let Fulham back into the game. They duly equalized and had the better of the late stages. Had the home side snatched the win, you couldn’t have complained.
The lacklustre performance has probably eroded some of the optimism that fans felt after last week’s unfortunate defeat to Arsenal. So is Phil’s glass of cider half full or half empty?

Premier League
No Michael Knighton this time, but a new look attack for United as they kick off at home against Arsenal.
The result looks all too familiar from last season, but it was a very different performance, and both Cunha and Mbuemo impressed as United dominated the game but were unable to break through a stubborn and well drilled Arsenal defence.
Ultimately, the game was decided by a set piece (what a surprise). Whether it was a push or just very weak goalkeeping, you’ll have to decide for yourself.
Phil has his own opinions (what an even bigger surprise) – catch up with his analysis and the mood from the Stretford End in the first pod of the new season below…

Glazers’ your time is up. Sell up and move on, NOW! GLAZERS OUT!!Manchester United 2 v Aston Villa 0. Ruben Amorim : “First of all, I want to apologise for this season. I know you are very disappointed with me and with the team,”.
“Secondly, I want to say thank you. We are very grateful for your support over the season, which I know was really bad.
“It was really hard in many games but now we have to make a choice. Stay stuck in the past, because this season is in the past, it is over. We fight each other, or we stick together and move forward.
“Six months ago, in my first three games in charge, with two victories and one draw, I said to you, the storm is coming. Today, after this disastrous season, I want to tell you, the good days are coming.
“If there is one club in the world that can overcome any situation, any disaster, it’s our club. It’s Manchester United.
“Now I want to say sorry also to my players, sometimes I was not fair, but I try always to be honest with you guys.
“Thank you very much, see you next season.”

Glazers’ your time is up. Sell up and move on, NOW! GLAZERS OUT!!Tottenham Hotspur 1 v Manchester United 0. Ruben Amorim : “In this moment, I am not here to defend myself. It’s not my style. I have nothing to show to the fans. In this moment [I need] a little bit of faith.
“I am always open. If the board and the fans feel I’m not the right guy, I will go in the next day. But I will not quit again. I am confident in my job. As you see, I will not change anything in the way I do things.
“Tonight we need to deal with the pain of losing this match. I think it was clear we were the better team but we managed not to score. The guys tried everything to win the game. In the future we will have time to assess everything.
“There are some days when I have said we were really poor. Today was not that day. We were not perfect, we need to improve, but I am always honest with you guys.”

Glazers’ your time is up. Sell up and move on, NOW! GLAZERS OUT!!Chelsea 1 v Manchester United 0. Ruben Amorim : “It was the good things we talked about before the game: we had some moments, improving the way we played football, we pressed quite well and had some chances.
“We were quite aggressive, we need to be more aggressive. We have good build-up to the last third but then we miss something. But we faced the competition in the right way today, we were competitive.
“I won’t talk about the summer. The good news is in the Europa League, we are scoring many goals. We will prepare for the Europa League game.
“We have to deal with a lot of things in the summer, but today it was a really good game to prepare for the final. If we put some players out in the feeling of the last game, almost 10 days without playing, it would be a mistake.
“It was a good thing for them to play, that they feel they can do it, that we can have possession and can push the opponent. In this club, you need to win and we are not winning games.
“It helped me a lot to choose the starting XI for the final. We’ll see.”

Glazers’ your time is up. Sell up and move on, NOW! GLAZERS OUT!!Manchester United 0 v West Ham United 2. Ruben Amorim : “If you look at the goals that we suffer, we can avoid these goals. The lack of energy, of urgency. That is the most dangerous things in this club. You can feel it at the beginning of the game. Between our box and opponent’s box there is a lack of urgency. That is something we have to change in this club.
“I am responsible for that. It is frustrating because we are so near the goals. We have such a lack of urgency to protect our goal. This is week by week. We don’t play so well in the Europa League but we have a different sense of urgency.
“It’s something we need to work on. It’s inside the pitch and outside the pitch. If we are not able to do, we have to go away and give the space to different people. All of us.
“We are going to face a team from Premier League so we are going to struggle. Of course we are going to be more focused, and that is a concern because we have to be focused every game.
“For me, it doesn’t matter if we win the Europa League because the problems are much bigger than that.”

Glazers’ your time is up. Sell up and move on, NOW! GLAZERS OUT!!Manchester United 4 v Athletic Club Bilbao 1. Ruben Amorim : “Amad gave us this spark that you need to change games”.
“Mason Mount, I am so happy for him, he is such a player. He works really hard. He has quality. I really like Kobbie Mainoo, just 10 minutes on the pitch, but everything he did was really good. Sometimes you are on the bench, but you change the game.”
“It is hard to describe what it is like to be a manager in this kind of club. You want to give something to the fans, because we’ve been so disappointing in the Premier League this season.
“It is more important to give something to the fans, than to add something as a winner.”
“The position of the coaches is quite similar. The context is different, but we are struggling, both of us. So I don’t know what is going to happen. That is the good thing and the bad thing with this team, I never know.”

Glazers’ your time is up. Sell up and move on, NOW! GLAZERS OUT!!Brentford 4 v Manchester United 3. Ruben Amorim : “I think it reflected our season. We started quite well, controlling the game, not creating big chances but controlling the pace of the game. We suffered a lot with the throw-ins and set-pieces but we already knew that our team would struggle against this team.
“We didn’t have the height necessary for this kind of game. They scored twice in this kind of moments, even with De Ligt on the floor.
“And then in the second half I felt that we were near the draw and then we suffered a goal and like some other times we disconnected. And then another goal, almost three minutes, five minutes later. And then we pushed forward, tried to score, we scored twice but we didn’t have the time to do better.”
“They have to understand this season is really important also to understand that we cannot do this anymore. Of course, we know the context, but this kind of season we need to change that. They need to understand what it is to play for Manchester United.
“I think they did really well. They are not playing so much, but then they have to play 90 minutes because we have to change some other players to save them for Thursday.
“I think we can help the young kids even more, especially Tyler Fredricson did quite well in the third goal. He needs more help from Amad. So these small things I think we can help them more, but I’m really happy with the performance of the young kids.”
“We don’t know what will happen with De Ligt. If we don’t have Luke Shaw available on Thursday we could have a problem and then we don’t have enough defenders for the game. We had to protect some players at half-time, thinking about Thursday. So it was just that, not about thinking about the game.”
