The High Court in Pretoria has declared the AARTO Amendment Act - on which the planned demerit system for traffic offences is based, unconstitutional and invalid. The court delivered the ruling earlier today. This after civil rights group the Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse, OUTA challenged the constitutional validity of the Act.

The bail application of 20-year-old Onthatile Sebati accused of orchestrating her family's brutal murder has been postponed to next week Tuesday. Onthatile reportedly confessed to police that she hired hitmen to kill her parents, her pregnant sister and a younger brother in 2016. Onthatile and her two co-accused, Tumelo and Kagiso Mokone appeared in the Brits Magistrates Court earlier today for a formal bail application.

This after the country lifted a ban on Twitter at midnight after the social media platform agreed to open a local office, among other agreements with authorities in the West African country, according to a senior government official. The country's government suspended Twitter last year in June after it removed a post from President Muhammadu Buhari that threatened to punish regional secessionists. Telecoms companies subsequently blocked access to users in Nigeria.

Seventeen people have been killed in a head on collision between a 22 seater bus and an SUV on the N1 near Mookgophong in Limpopo. Several bodies were discovered inside the burnt bus.
