This is Renegade Files Episode 114, The Nevada Triangle.
The “Nevada Triangle” is often described as an inland Bermuda Triangle. Instead of tropical waters, it stretches over remote and rugged desert terrain in the United States. The loosely defined zone runs between Las Vegas, Reno, and Fresno, forming a triangle over mountain ranges, military airspace, and extreme weather corridors.
Since the 1950s, more than 2,000 aircraft disappearances and crashes have been reported in this region. Some caused by unexpected weather or powerful downdrafts, but many from unknown causes, mysterious anomalies, or other unexplained reasons.
The location includes restricted military testing zones, includes Area 51, is home to the Nevada missile Test and Training Range, and is the site for a long history of UFO sightings, abductions, and impossible to explain airborne phenomena.
Experienced pilots have vanished without distress calls, military aircraft have disappeared during routine exercises, and search teams often find little or no wreckage.. all in an era of satellite tracking and aircraft distress technology.
Is this simply harsh geography doing what difficult terrain naturally does? Or is the Nevada Triangle a blend of hidden testing, electromagnetic interference, or something stranger still?
On this episode we map the facts, and explore the mysterious airspace known as, The Nevada Triangle!

Question 1: “What is the Nevada Triangle and why is it compared to the Bermuda Triangle?”
Answer 1: The Nevada Triangle is an unofficial term describing a region between Las Vegas, Reno, and Fresno where a high number of aircraft incidents have occurred since the 1950s. Like the Bermuda Triangle, it is associated with unexplained disappearances, difficult terrain, and reports of unusual aerial activity.
Question 2: “What happened to Steve Fossett in Nevada?”
Answer 2: On September 3, 2007, record-setting aviator Steve Fossett disappeared during a short solo flight over Nevada. Despite a massive search effort, his aircraft was not located for over a year, when wreckage was discovered in the Sierra Nevada mountains, highlighting how aircraft can vanish in the rugged terrain.
Question 3: “Is Area 51 located inside the Nevada Triangle?”
Answer 3: Yes. Area 51 sits within the broader Nevada Test and Training Range, which overlaps the zone commonly referred to as the Nevada Triangle. The restricted airspace around Groom Lake has hosted decades of classified aircraft testing, contributing to speculation about unexplained aerial sightings and military secrecy.
Question 4: “Are the Roswell incident, Travis Walton case, and Phoenix Lights connected to the Nevada Triangle?”
Answer 4: Roswell in 1947, the Travis Walton case in 1975, and the Phoenix Lights in 1997 all occurred within the American Southwest corridor that includes Nevada, Arizona, and New Mexico. Researchers note that these events cluster geographically near military installations and restricted airspace, leading some to propose a regional UFO flight path theory. Part of this area is known as the Nevada Triangle.
