  • #63 Ginger Gentile Erasing Family Pt 2: The Film

    Show Notes

Today is Part II of a series I began last week on the disturbing issue of Erasing Family. An amazing 22 million parents in the United States alone find themselves in the middle of this tragic situation.

My guest today, is Ginger Gentile who is an expert in this field. Ginger is an award–winning filmmaker who grew up in New York and graduated from Columbia University.

Ginger is the co-director of a new documentary film on this subject titled, Erasing Family, which depicts the stories of a disturbing number of children and parents that are “erased” from their families due to divorce and to the current, often-ineffective child custody laws.

As I mentioned last week, these may be two of the most important shows we’ve done on the Next Chapter with Charlie.

You can reach Ginger at http://www.erasingfamily.org

    Or http://www.facebook.com/erasingfamily

Or @erasing family on Twitter or Instagram

  • #62 Erasing Families Pt 1: Mom

    Show Notes

We have a most fascinating and disturbing show today on what is becoming an almost epidemic subject. It is called Erasing Families. Now, because of the privacy and confidentiality of the information we will be sharing with my very special guest, we going to give her a pseudonym of Mom.

Our subject of Erasing Families has been referred to in psychiatry as Parental Alienation, although new designations are forthcoming.

"Parental Alienation" has been known as a disorder that arises primarily in the context of brutal and hateful child custody disputes. It is the manifestation of one parent’s highly influential campaign to denigrate the other parent, with no genuine justification other than revenge. The result is that the denigrated parent is totally erased from the lives of their children. In many cases the children absolutely refuse any connection whatsoever with that parent.

My guest today, Mom, has personally experienced the tragedies of being on the rejected end of this situation. I want to talk with her about how this psychosis comes about and the problems parents experience while dealing with this issue.

Next week we will continue the subject with film producer, Ginger Gentile, who will offer more definition and hope for recovery from the voices of the children. These may be two of our most important shows on the Next Chapter with Charlie.

Be sure to tune in for Part II next week!

Show Notes Terry Hershey: #61 Who Owns You?

My guest today is our good friend, Terry Hershey. If you’re a frequent listener of the show then you’re familiar with Terry, who is a regular guest. Terry is a prolific writer, conference keynote speaker, renowned landscape architect, and spiritual advisor.

Today, I want to chat with Terry about how to take possession of your own life. We, all, too frequently give others permission to have some control over certain aspects of our lives. And we wind up frustrated, overwhelmed and often depressed.

This is our subject for the day. Who Owns You?

  • #60 Jamie Lerner The Wonder of You

Today’s guest is Jamie Lerner. Jamie is a therapist, a coach, and the co-author of the book, The Ever-Loving Essence of You.

You know, I really have enjoyed our last couple of weeks with Taryn Voget. And they align precisely with our guest today. Two weeks ago we talked about Putting Yourself First (by Loving Yourself) and then last week we did a fabulous show in how to Discover Your Genius during which we put our producer Paul Roberts through a process of discovering his genius. It was a blast!

Today I’d like to conclude these discussions, with what I’m calling The Wonder of You, with a very special guest, Jamie Lerner.

I’m excited to see exactly what emerges in our discussion with Jamie on The Wonder of You.

A bit of background on Jamie Lerner: After earning her MSW at Loyola University, Jamie Lerner spent several years in private practice, working with adults and couples. As a therapist she continues to explore the many avenues to maintaining a balanced and happy connection with yourself and others. She has developed what she refers to as an integrative approach to well being.

Jamie believes that people are amazing, beautiful, filled with light and love, passion, joy and enthusiasm. She also believes that we are beings with intuitive knowing and infinite intelligence. We can learn anything, can have everything and w are powerful manifesters that thrive in well-being.

  • #59 Taryn Voget “Discover Your Genius”

Today I’ll be visiting once again with my friend, Taryn Voget. Last week Taryn and I talked about loving yourself and putting yourself first.

Toward the end of the show Taryn brought up a recent opportunity she had to lead a small group of co-workers at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation on How to Discover Your Genius. The little workshop was a hit and is now being requested by several teams in the foundation.

Obviously, the thought of everyone having a genius within captured my curiosity. So I asked if Taryn if she would be wiling to come back to do another show and give tips to me and our listeners on how each of us might discover our own genius.

Before we bring her on, let me tell you a bit about the everyday genius. Taryn Voget is the CEO & cofounder of the Everyday Genius Institute, an education company that deconstructs how geniuses think, and then teaches their strategies to people who want to shave years off their learning curve on topics important to them. She is an expert in Genius and High Performance thinking and lights up when she can help people discover and expand their own unique genius.

Taryn believes that everyone has a genius and today she will tell us the process she uses to help us Discover Your Genius.

IMPT NOTE: Tune into 35 minutes and 25 seconds of the interview to listen to Taryn deconstruct our Producer Paul’s discovery of his genius. Great stuff.

  • #58 Taryn Voget “Putting Yourself First”

Today I’ll be visiting with my friend and, whom I call, my spiritual guide, Taryn Voget.

A bit about Taryn Voget: Taryn is an Executive Coach to high-level professionals, which today includes folks at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Pretty cool work. She devotes the bulk of her energy to her passion of helping people discover and live a life that really matters. She is the founder of the Everyday Genius Institute and her most recent book, Trust Fall.

I must say that Taryn has impacted my life in several significant ways. In fact, I began this podcast by following Taryn’s prompting. And now, doing this show is always of the highlights of my week. I love it.

Today I want to pick Taryn’s brain on what may be the controversial subject of Putting Yourself First.

  • #57 Gregg W. From Headlines to Breadlines and Back Aga

We are about to spend time with my friend, Gregg… hmm, let’s call him Gregg W. because… he and I met at a 12 Step Meeting that both of us regularly attend. Gregg’s story is especially fascinating, comedic, and tragic, but… in the end, it’s a story of redemption. For that reason I’ve titled this show From Headlines to Breadlines and Back Again.

Gregg W. actually was once a multi-millionaire and then he discovered something even more appealing than money… and that be… drugs and alcohol. Tragically, Gregg’s story is so common in our stressful society today. That is, folks that have lost the ability to live any kind of normal life because of the devastation caused by addiction.

The sad truth is that many, many people never find a way out, but Gregg did and that is what we plan to chat about today.

Today’s show will be a first. I’m here with Dena Crowder, my guest last week, and we are about to attempt something on my interview-centered podcast that is quite unique.

One of the processes Dena uses to coach her clients is the use of role-play. From role-play Dena discovers personal attributes that can be hidden or unclear to her clients. Last week I asked Dena if we could do a role-play with me on the show. She said “Sure!” And so here we are.

If, after the show, you would like to do role-play or coaching with Dena you can do so easily from her website. The URL is below.

My guest today is our good friend, Terry Hershey. If you’re a frequent listener of show then you’re familiar with Terry Hershey, who is a regular guest on the show. Terry is a prolific writer, conference keynote speaker, renowned landscape architect, and spiritual advisor.

Today, I want to chat with Terry about a Viktor Frankl’s book, Man’s Search for Meaning. I just reread it about a month ago. This book was first written in 1946 a mere few weeks after Frankl was released from a Nazi concentration after 3 years. It took him between 8-11 days to write the book and it is ranked as the 7th most influential book ever written.
