However, we get derailed by talking about the Hershey Bears AHL team because they had so many ties to this current Tampa Bay club. We dive into Hersheypark Arena and go into how the older arenas had character compared to today’s cookie cutter arenas. We also talk about our favorite play by play guys from Bears past, and even recommend B’ars to Bears the documentary about the Hershey Bears.

The second period we call back to a prior show about obscure sports and give you the listener a quick and dirty about the sport and the US National teams success in it.

Finally we wrap up the show with our 3rd period topic. Since it is baseball season we decided to talk about our favorite baseball films.

On this episode we open up with a brief this day in history where we talk about Tim Duncan

The 1st period we discuss the MLB crackdown on pitchers using sticky substances to gain a better grip on the ball, we also dive into the history of gamesmanship in professional baseball dating back to the origins of the game. We get into the different types of cheating in the past with MLB and their prior histories of being less than hard on those who have been caught. We wrap it up with giving out personal thoughts on if this is the right move for MLB or not.

In the 2nd period we get into the recent Supreme Court ruling that the NCAA will need to compensate student athletes. Topics discussed in this period is how the NCAA has made millions off of the likenesses of student athletes for DVD's, Video Games, and etc. We talk about that not every student athlete has a full scholarship, and that this will benefit these athletes.

Finally in the 3rd period we talk about the world of bootleg jerseys. Be it our own personal experiences with them, to why we don't have a problem with people buying them.

This week we are joined by Brian and Matt, the president and vice-president of the Harrisburg Senators Fan Club. They join us for the first and second period this week. In the first period we discuss history of the fan club, how it came to be, what they do, and we also talk about our favorite thing to eat at FNB Field in Harrisburg, PA.

In the second period we discuss the history of the Harrisburg Senators franchise dating back to before the team even existed. Lots of great discussion about the team's multiple championships. Including winning the Eastern League title in their inaugural season, and the historic 4 peat in 96-99. We discuss with Matt and Brian the social aspects of minor league baseball for the fans, and the family feeling you get walking into a minor league ballpark

Finally in the third period we announce the winner of the NHL round of the Best Beard In Pro Sports Tournament, and then we discuss the 4 finalists. We each make a prediction on who we think will win. We also discuss the rematch that took place in the final match of the NHL round from a prior tie. We talk about the surprises we have seen over the course of the tournament thus far as well. We also give a plug to Matt from the A Show for his tournament group that he runs online as they are currently doing a Best Franchise in Sports Tournament.

Episode 20 of The Not Another Sports Podcast is here!

This episode we briefly talk about Jason’s trip to Citizens Bank Park to see the Phillies, with his wife, daughter, and his dad. Then we jump into the 1st period top of Tim Tebow going back to the NFL by signing a 1 year deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars as a Tight End. We discuss his age, his prior history in both the NFL and Minor League Baseball, and how we see this playing out

Next in the 2nd period we go over Tom Wilson’s $5000.00 fine for a vicious attack during the Capital vs Rangers game recently, and compare it to the 2 game suspension Shayne Gostisbehere was given for a boarding penalty in a recent Flyers vs Penguins game.

Finally in period 3 we discuss the nominees and beards for the NHL Round of the Best Beard in Pro Sports Tournament.

Welcome back to the home of sports talk for everyone

In this episode we being the 1st period with a follow up from our last episode where we talked about no hitters. Is a 7 inning double header no hitter actually considered a no hitter? For the first part of period 1 we discuss our views on the topic, and why it currently isn’t considered a no hitter. In the second part of the 1st period. We dive into the Pioneer Baseball League opting this season to switch to a home run derby format to determine a tiebreaker instead of extra innings. We also go into a little bit of the history of the PBL, and that it is an MLB Partner League.

In the 2nd period we follow up on a topic we had discussed on two previous episodes with the ongoing saga of the NHL’s television deals. We started this back in January with Episode 12 when it was announced that NBC SportsNet would cease to exist at the end of the year. Next on Episode 15 we discussed that the NHL would be going back to ESPN and ABC Sports. Now on this episode we discuss that they have no signed a new deal ousting NBC to make Turner Sports their additional cable TV home. Jason also touches upon the fact that this has interesting changes to the world of pro wrestling on cable TV.

Finally in the 3rd period we continue our Best Beard in Pro Sports Tournament. We are moving into the NFL round of the tournament. We discuss the nominees and their respective beards. We also talk about the surprise result of the final match in the NBA Round

Moving into the 1st period we touch on the controversial subject of youth sports. We discuss our time in youth sports as kids, we share our own positive experiences, and move into sportsmanship, teaching the basics, and why we think flag football is better for youth sports than full contact football. We also discuss the youth basketball league that Jason’s granddad ran for years and our experience in it.

In the 2nd period we talk about the history and the special nature of the No Hitter in Major League Baseball. We dive into the first no hitters (one is recognized by MLB and one isn’t). We compare a no hitter in baseball to shut out in hockey. We touch upon the two teams who haven’t had a no hitter since the 1980’s

Finally in the 3rd period we announce the winner of the MLB round of the Not Another Sports Podcast Best Beard in Pro Sports Tournament. After that we go over the nominees for the NBA round. We start this episode off hot by going into the 2021 MLB baseball season. We discuss some rules that will still be in effect from last years Covid shortened season. We also discuss the Little League World Series game that is played at Bowman Field in Williamsport PA. This year the game will be played by the Cleveland Indians and the Los Angeles Angels. Finally we go over ESPN's Predictions for the 2021 Season.

In our 2nd period we continue the baseball talk by talking about the Philadelphia Phillies. We discuss the changes from last season to this season. Specifically the hiring of David Dombrowski as the President of Baseball Operations. We also dive into why we like Joe Girardi as the Phillies manager. Next we move onto why we think the Phillies are being overlooked for a potential playoff run this season.

Finally in the our 3rd period we announce a multiple episode Best Beard in Pro Sports Tournament. We explain that each of the Big Four (NFL, MLB, NHL, and NBA) sports leagues in North America will have their own separate discussion on the show and then the listeners can vote from the time the episode is available until the next episode posts. After each league has a best beard nominated, we will then have a final between each leagues winner to crown the official Not Another Sports Podcast Best Beard in Pro Sports. This episode we continue with our baseball theme by discussing our picks for the best beard in MLB.
