We start this episode off with talk about the MLB Lockout. We give our thoughts on why we support the players. Also discussed is the topic of teams tanking or not fielding a competitive team for the sake of getting the top draft picks and the money that comes with that. Following that discussion up we get into the 1994 strike and how that effected young fans at the time.

In the 2nd period we discuss College Football Bowl Games, we open with the National Championship and the two games that will lead to the championship game. We also get into why so many people dislike Alabama football fans. Also talked about is Penn State playing in the Outback Bowl yet again, and the season they had and the season they were meant to have.

Finally we talk about the Winter Classic in the 3rdperiod. That quick becomes a discussion about the awesome jerseys you see during the Winter Classic games. We dive into some back and forth of our favorite Winter Classic Jerseys. We break into a brief discussion about the Arizona Coyotes who are having numerous issues, most recently almost being locked out of their home arena for not making payments. Lastly we get into this years Stadium Series Jerseys, specifically the truly hideous Nashville Predators jersey for that game.

We also discuss why in the last 20 years spring football hasn’t worked. Also, we get into what we are hoping to see from the new USFL.

The 2nd period we talk about the recently announced Baseball Hall Of Fame nominees for this year. We discuss the potential of the 2008 Phillies being one of a very few World Series Championship teams to possibly not have a hall of famer on the roster. We make our case for why Jimmy Rollins is the best candidate to be inducted from that team. We also go over the players who we feel had potential in this list but for one reason or another their careers were shorter than expected. Finally, we get into the last chance nominees and we discuss the reasons for and for not for Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Sammy Sosa, and Curt Schilling.

Lastly, we arrive at the 3rd period. This week we go over defunct teams who either folded or moved to a new location. Some of these teams kept the same team name like the Athletics, and some completely change their identity like the Oklahoma City Thunder. From there we go into the 1st period we continue in our talk about minor league sports. This week we lead off talking about the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL). The ECHL is the professional hockey equivalent to AA level baseball in professional baseball. We talk about the fact that even though both players in baseball and hockey at this level are paid the same amount, the hockey players have health care, travel, and lodging covered where as that’s not always the case in minor league baseball. We touch upon the fact that a now defunct ECHL Team has ties to the classic sports film Slap Shot.

In the 2nd period we get into the world of professional lacrosse, specifically the National Lacrosse League (NLL). We get into the history of the league, their current TV rights deal with ESPN, and their former deals with ESPN as well as a video game deal they had with Acclaim. The league has flirted with the mainstream sports world and maybe one day the NLL will do more than flirt with it.

In the 3rd period we looked back on the Arena Football League (AFL) which lasted from 1987-2019. We were both fans of the AFL. We talk about why we loved the concept of Arena Football from the play to the presentation. We talk a little about how Arena Football was first conceived and when the first test game took place. Also we speculate if market saturation played a role in the downfall of the league itself. Now the concept of Arena Football is still around in the form of the Indoor Football League (IFL) and many other regional leagues.

Both of us feel that the pay is not sufficient when players are sleeping in cars, living 4 or more to a one bedroom apartment, and don’t know where their next meal will come. We also discuss the idea of parent clubs from MLB footing the bill for room and board for minor league players to help make things easier on the players if they aren’t going to be compensated properly

The 2nd period we talk MLB playoffs, updating the listeners on where our Underdog picks from last episode are in the race to the world series, and our predictions for the rest of the playoffs.

In the 3rd period we hit the controversial topic of charging the plate, we discuss the merits of both the collision at home plate and why its removal was necessary. Jason also makes a very very controversial statement about a beloved west coast catcher.

In the first period we talk about The Amazin’ Mets and how they can’t stop out Metting themselves. First we talk about the controversy of the Met’s players booing their own fans, which leads to us discussing the fans right to boo. Next we move onto the Mets acting GM getting a DWI after attending a fundraiser at owner’s mansion. We also go into how East Coast fanbases are notorious for being passionate and vocal.

Moving onto the 2nd period, we begin the period talking about the Little League World Series (LLWS) Championship game, and that breaks down to us talking about our experiences in youth baseball before the towns we played for merged to play under LLWS. We discuss as kids how serious we took our rivalries even taking it into school.

David and Jason start their one-year anniversary show talking about their recent speaking engagement with the Harrisburg Senators Fan Club at their monthly Diamond Talk meeting.

With that they move right into the first period with their guest Bobblehead collecting aficionado Jonathan Mullins. David and Jason met Jonathan early this summer at a Harrisburg Senators game and struck up a friendship. Jonathan gladly explains to us and you the listener about the world of Bobblehead collecting, the ins and outs of trading, and some of the rarer bobbles out there. We also talk about the all but period perfect uniforms for the White Sox and Yankees in the Field of Dream game, and what we would like to see happen with it moving forward.
