Here are a handful of my recommended resources:

* Bethany Kimsey’s Warrior Mama Podcast: Disciplining with Grace

* Don’t Make Me Count To Three by Ginger Hubbard

* Jen Wilkin on Obedience

* The New Strong Willed Child and Bringing Up Boys by Dr. James Dobson (If my parents or in laws used it and it was fruitful, you can bet we will too. Saddened to hear of the many voices who would like to discredit Dobson’s faithful work. Maybe it wasn’t perfect, and yes, there are some who would say it did their families a disservice or was harmful, but I wouldn’t see it that way. Take the meat, leave the bones. More on this another time.)

* Habits of The Household by Justin Whitmel Earley

* Raising Boys to Men by Durenda Wilson

* Wild Things by Stephen Jame and David Thomas

This marks Part II of my time chatting with my dear sister, Laura, Connecticut homeschooling mom to four. We hope you leave encouraged!

So, we did it! My sister, Laura, and I hid away on our Ontario vacation for an hour and chatted like we would IRL but pressed record in hopes to encourage any listeners. We share insights on our experiences raising eight children ages 1-13, homeschooling, private-schooling, and a little of everything in between.

Ever Warmly,

Olivia (and Laura)

Some housekeeping…

* The idea of “Containment” goes with you wherever you are. For example the stroller for being in public places (i.e. strapping in the toddler while changing the babies diaper; “if you run away from mama when I say ‘time to go’ you will go in the stroller” type idea.)

* Scripture reference: Psalm 90:12

* I knew the Toronto Maple Leafs was spelled incorrectly…just wanted to make sure I said it incorrectly, correctly. ;)

* Rachel Norman from Mother U talks more about benevolent deprivation in her podcast with the same title.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the love and support of this “summer podcast trial” series. Here’s to seeing what the future holds!

Ever Warmly, Olivia

Some other housekeeping…

I utilize help in various ways and didn’t get in to all the details in this episode. This is something I can do a deeper dive into in the future.

My examples and anecdotes on parenting are not finessed with every exact word I would like to use and I didn’t word everything perfectly in this episode. Thanks for your giving the benefit of the doubt.

Lastly, I will be hosting a Q and A podcast for my next episode. Share in the comment below any questions and I’ll pick a few to answer!

Aiming for two episodes per month for the time being. The goal is to have the podcast available on Apple, Spotify, etc.... in the meantime, thanks for your patience.
