As we kick off our Epilepsy Awareness Week, I am excited to welcome, Octavia Page, mother, advocate & Executive Director of Fashion No Boundaries.
Octavia’s 12 years old son TJ was born at 24 weeks with Epilepsy and Cerebral Palsy. TJ also suffers from Lennox Gastaut Syndrome and Electrical Status Epilepticus in Sleep (ESES) which has resulted in TJ being in several comas to stop the seizure activity. Due to TJ’s going into cardiac arrest back in 2013 he was placed on ventilator that helps daily to support him with epilepsy and respiratory failure.
Octavia states “Epilepsy truly has been our worst nightmare as TJ has two rare syndromes with no help for him.”
Despite all of this adversity TJ is always happy 🙂 He absolutely loves Spongebob, Beyonce and his family!

As we turn our focus to SUDEP ACTION DAY, I am excited to welcome , Sally Schaeffer, Mom, Advocate and Director of the SUDEP Institute with the National Epilepsy Foundation.
As the Director of the SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy), Sally helps drive the mission of eradicating SUDEP, bringing awareness, and most importantly supporting those that have lost someone to it.
Sally, mother of 3 children, lost her daughter Lydia on Mother’s Day in 2014. Lydia was born with a rare genetic chromosome abnormality called Kleefstra Syndrome. She was 1 of 50 worldwide when diagnosed 11 years ago. There are now over 500. She was also diagnosed with a rare epilepsy that occurred during sleep that they believe took her life.

As we wrap up our Cerebral Palsy Series, I am so excited to welcome back, Sabrina Thomas author, speaker & advocate.
Sabrina’s son Omar was born October 29th, 2000. He was a preemie, only 25 weeks gestation and weighing only 600 grams. He is definitely Sabrina’s miracle child. Omar was diagnosed with spastic cerebral palsy when he was about 2 ½ years old. He receives 12-16 Botox injections every 90 days in his legs. Omar cerebral palsy is considered mild.
Omar is now 17 years old & is in 11th grade. Although Omar has multiple disabilities that include Autism and a intellectual disability Sabrina has many hopes and dreams for Omar. She is looking forward to him living a full life and continues to meet him where he’s at with lots of love and support.
