The Other Half

In December of 2015, the boys recorded Planes: Fire and Rescue, unfortunately, the hard drive containing the files was lost. Now, nearly three years later the files have been found. You can now listen to 2015 versions of Mike and Ethan (though I guess those already exist on this website already) in all their young, naive glory.

This is the direct sequel to Planes, which was a spin-off of the Car's franchise. If you can sell kids weird toy cards with faces, you can also sell kids other human vehicles. Let's get together a build a franchise! It only cost Disney $50 million to make this movie and it made triple that in the box office. And who knows how many toys they sold after that! Get ready to hear adults take on a kid's animated movie and question the world they built around it.

The boys, fresh off of Halloween, tackle Atonement. This is one of those fancy upper-class British movies with big houses and forbidden romance. But there's a dark underside around the edges that isn't fully revealed until the end.

Can you trust the plot of movies Mike and Ethan explain to you? Let's be honest, probably not.

Honestly, there's a dark underside to this whole podcast episode. As Mike and Ethan watch Kiera Knightly and James McAvoy's love story unfold, even the jokes become tragic. It's almost as wild as losing the first half of the podcast and having to rerecord the whole thing.

Also, this movie was directed by Joe Wright, who also directed Darkest Hour.

The Witches be brewing up a storm at the Witches convention. I think that's the most Halloween sentence I've ever written. This movie, based on the Ronald Dahl book of the same name, follows a young boy and his witch hunting grandma as they go on vacation to help her diabetes. By pure misfortune, they end up at a witches convention at the same hotel. Wackiness ensues when the grand high witch reveals her plan to turn every child into a mouse!

A silly but sincere story, mixed with a bit of wonderful movie magic make this movie better than expected. Also, this movie is absolutely terrifying for any child who watches this.

Listen to Demon House at your own risk there may be demons INSIDE THIS PODCAST. This is our first documentary ever for this podcast and it's a doozy. For those who don't know Zak Bagansis from the hit show Ghost Adventures. Him and his bro buddies used to go on fun ghost trips, which involved yelling at demons inside of houses.

Here's his own solo movie about yelling at ghosts and exploiting people to convince you ghosts are real. He stops at NOTHING to prove it to you. Mike is an expert on Zak, so please enjoy this insane film coupled with insightful commentary.

Witches get stitches in The Craft. The boys take on the cult spooky movie that found a following among women who enjoy a more adult occult movie. The Other Half treatment for this movie leads to some interesting opinions about how the film shakes out.

Ethan and Mike tackle scary video games and virtual reality in the '90s with eXistenZ. Jennifer Jason Leigh and Jude Law star in this gruesome movie directed by Cronenberg. The plot is basically: Jennifer Jason Leigh must escape from hitmen. It's made difficult in a land where video games are plugged in through your spinal cord and you can't tell what is real.

Get ready for some twists and turns, like a gun made out of human flesh! Wow! Also, this movie gets gross. Like really gross.

Honestly, though, this is a more realistic depiction of VR than Ready Player One.

We kick off our Halloween Spooktacular with Demon Seed! A movie about a robot trying to impregnate a woman and create a robot-human hybrid! It's a weird concept and could only come out of the 1970s. Most importantly, it shows that some robots want to have sex! (Yay) But only because they can't make an artificial womb in time. (Boo)

Demon Seed surprisingly takes this off the wall concept and plays it off as seriously as possible. This makes the movie worth a watch even if it's not exactly a great movie.

Keep an eye out for other Spooktacular movies on our homepage!

Lindsay joins the boys to talk about the classic teen dark comedy movie, Heathers. Winona Ryder and Christian Slater star in a movie about teenage angst, depression and just trying to survive the high school experience. Christian Slater plays the bad boy, but he's like REALLY bad. Winona Ryder tries to fit in with the popular ladies but hates it. All of the other characters have their own issues and their own goals they're trying to achieve. This movie doesn't exactly play well in 2018.

This movie is very similar to Clueless, but with a lot more blood involved.

Also, there's a TV show apparently and here's a screen grab of the Heathers.

Mariah Carey wants to forget Glitter. She doesn't want you to listen to this podcast on the movie. In fact, she'd rather get this problematic movie out her life and only refer to it as the "G" word. The boys talk about one of the worst movies of the early millennia. No one is exactly sure why this movie did so badly, as it was released on September 11th, 2001? Or was it just because it was an abomination of a film. Probably a bit of column A and column B.

Glitter opened in 1,996 American theatres, and grossed $2.5 million in its first week, with a worldwide total of $5.3 million. That's a certified flop.

This movie centers around a pop star with a great voice who gets help from her toxic as hell boyfriend. The ending may shock you. Mariah Carey does nothing wrong!

We also take Terrance Howard to town for supposedly not believing in math.
