In this episode I talk about NFTs, aka Non-Fungible Tokens. If you don’t know what an NFT is, it’s digital art that, using blockchain and cryptocurrency, can be proven one of a kind--just like an original Picasso painting. Their creation means a lot for industries like textbook publishing, trademarking, art collection, professional sports, and music. In the first half, I talk with Spyridon Alexopolous, who goes by the name Spyrosketches in the art world. He recently launched his first collections of NFTs on OpenSea and Known Origin. We discuss why NFTs are exciting for all levels of artist and what reasonable expectations are for someone entering the space. In the second part of the podcast I rant about why I believe NFTs are for real and why a society ready for such an invention is a double-edged sword. Something unique about this episode is that it is itself an NFT, both the podcast and cover art are available for purchase on the OpenSea marketplace as a collaboration between Spyrosketches and myself. While NFTs are a speculative instrument, if The Patrick Eley Podcast continues to gain popularity, these extremely limited NFTs will increase exponentially in value. You can find a link to the OpenSea marketplace gallery in the show notes and using the links in my Instagram profile, @pbseein.
