In the summer of 1997, “six men climbed to the top of Mt Tabor, pulling their creations of death and destruction behind them,” according to the organization. And the PDX Adult Soapbox Derby was born. More than two decades later, Mt. Tabor Park continues to host the race. It features cars built for speed and others built for style.
