Back in the early days of TPToA we reviewed Suicide Squad... Twice. The first review questioned the physics of Boomerangs, while the second was ever-so-slightly kinder and gentler on the godawful misfire.  Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn is a sequel (of sorts) to that film and the next entry in the slowly growing D.C. Extended Universe of films. Recently retitled as Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey in an effort to demistify the film for U.S. audiences, this Margot Robbie led comic translation spearheads the charge into a year full of female-driven action films.

It's 2020 friends and that means it's time for something a bit different! In this podcast we're experimenting with DC or "Drunk Cinema" as we sit down with Jill to make her endur… experience, the glory that is the Jason Momoa action-adventure vehicle; 'Aquaman'. Taika Waititi is the hottest thing in Hollywood at the moment and its wonderful to see someone who has the spotlight on them so brightly, still creating such challenging and wonderful art. This film is stylistically a bit more in line with 'Hunt for the Wilderpeople' than 'Thor: Ragnarok', but it has an amazing A-list cast and a lot to say about the human condition.

Ahead of its release on Boxing Day here in Australia, Dion and Quinny march dutifully into this special Christmas/Chanukah podcast about a small film that wears its heart on it's sleeve, along with a swastika.

Writer director Taika Waititi (THOR: RAGNAROK, HUNT FOR THE WILDERPEOPLE), brings his signature style of humor and pathos to his latest film, JOJO RABBIT, a World War II satire that follows a lonely German boy (Roman Griffin Davis as JoJo) whose world view is turned upside down when he discovers his single mother (Scarlett Johansson) is hiding a young Jewish girl (Thomasin McKenzie) in their attic. Aided only by his idiotic imaginary friend, Adolf Hitler (Taika Waititi), Jojo must confront his blind nationalism.

The Witcher follows the story of Geralt of Rivia (played by the 'Man of Steel', Henry Cavill), a solitary monster-hunter who struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. When destiny hurls him toward a powerful sorceress and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile continent together.

Netflix has adapted the wildly popular Witcher books, and later video games, which fantasy fans hope might fill the void left by the sub-par ending to 'Game of Thrones'. Join Dion, Quinny and special guest Stephanie 'Hex' Bendixsen as they find out if this series defeats the evil tide, or should we just exorcise this demon?
