Our newest episode is another entry into our series called Better than Perfect on the TV sitcom Scrubs. Byers and Troy have their first ever duet on a classic early 2000s radio staple. We have plenty of Rowdy the stuffed dog, Troy gets to mention the show Love Monkey again, and Byers leads off a quote with “I don’t even know what this is in reference to” and that is the theme for all great Scrubs quotes. We were trying to balance out our dive into this show so we started going a little lightning round and didn’t set up some of the discussion. We did this so it wouldn't be a 3 hour podcast, but we think that you’ll still be able to follow along without us getting bogged down.

It’s time for our annual NFL preview. We provide our records for each team, place them in our tiers that we’ll be using for the rest of the year, and predict award and Super Bowl winners. We agreed on a lot of teams and their records but disagreed the most on the Rams. Troy promised that he wouldn’t go in depth on the Texans and then couldn’t help himself and did it anyway. Late Nights at Blockbuster

This week’s episode is a Late Nights at Blockbuster celebrating the 30th Anniversary of Dazed and Confused. This movie was the springboard for a few mega stars of the 90s and early 2000s. We have some disclaimers about the movie before we go on to talk about it for more than 90 minutes. Byers does actual research on the drinking age in Texas during this time and we dive into how our generation was the last to feel like this movie still feels like a high school movie that takes place during their timeframe despite it being 20 years later. We added a new category and Byers reminded Troy of an old category that was perfect for this movie.

Goofs: Troy went 0 for 2 on his guesses for Julia Stiles and Natalie Portman’s college choices. Stiles attended Columbia and Portman attended Harvard.

Our latest Deep Thoughts on Shallow Subjects borrows a theme from our most recent The Italian Job podcast as we are drafting our favorite heist movies. We figured our lists would probably be too similar for a Top 5 so we needed to go the draft route. We spend a little more time on our respective movies than we did in the villain draft and Troy chases plenty of squirrels, as usual.
