Our latest edition of Late Nights at Blockbuster has us discussing the 15th Anniversary of Iron Man. If this movie wasn’t a success the terminology Marvel Cinematic Universe wouldn’t exist. We don’t have much negative to say about least favorite scene or editing but we have plenty of fun with plot holes and quibbles. Troy meanders a bit and somehow brings Mozart into the conversation.

Our newest Late Nights at Blockbuster celebrates the 20th anniversary of X2: X-men United. This will be our easiest favorite scene ever, but we needed to go through those that were going to be relegated to second place. We were pretty chalk on most of the categories but still had some differences in the things that bug us about this movie. Byers dives into his bag of tricks to extract a Star Trek reference that isn’t the very obvious one you are thinking of.

Goofs: Troy couldn’t think of Angel Reese from LSU. Troy fact checked that the assassinated president pictures were prominently featured in the beginning of the Nightcrawler scene.

In honor of the baseball season starting, we are giving the Late Nights at Blockbuster treatment for the 30th Anniversary of The Sandlot. Byers doesn’t like Smalls’ Mom nerd shaming him. We spend more time examining Marley Shelton’s career than we intended. Byers snuck in a quick discussion of who has the better baseball movie resume, James Earl Jones or Kevin Costner.

Our newest Late Nights at Blockbuster is a time capsule of our high school days. This year marks the 25th anniversary of Can’t Hardly Wait. We tried our best to not recite the whole movie for our Drax award and Troy can’t stop saying people’s names like they do in the movie. Byers continues his assault on things that Troy likes, but once again he has very reasoned arguments. After we recorded this we saw that Charlie Korsmo graduated from MIT and went to Yale for law school and is now an attorney and law school professor at Case Western Reserve University.

Goofs: Troy completely flubbed the Job line from Arrested Development. It should have been, “I’ve made a huge mistake.”

Corner Booth at Rex's

Our most recent podcast is our 100th Episode! It is fitting that we have a Corner Booth at Rex’s for Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania. We’ll discuss our usual categories, movie score, and placement in our infinity stone tiers. Spoilers start around the 23 minute mark. We get into who Kang is in the comics and how this movie portrayed him. We were in agreement as far as our two biggest misses for the movie as well.

We all have them, some movie that the rational side of you has to admit, probably isn’t very good. Most of your friends say so. The internet probably says so. Your spouse definitely says so. But you just can’t help it – you love this movie. Those are the movies we’re talking about this week…well at least the ones we love, you probably don’t love these movies, in fact, we didn’t even love each other’s movies, but we don’t mind, these are our top 5 guilty pleasure movies.

Do you like montages? Then do we have a movie for you! Our newest Late Nights at Blockbuster is focused on the 35th anniversary of Bloodsport. The JCVD vehicle that started a string of movies that have essentially the same plot. Troy really stretches the phrase, “It’s like a Nolan movie.” For those of you that do not like our Drax award, you are rewarded with our quickest round ever in that category.

Goofs: Troy continuously refers to Frank as Jean Claude Van Damme throughout. Kowloon Walled City had a population density of approximately 1,255,000 inhabitants per square kilometre (3,250,000/sq mi) in 1987, making it the most densely populated spot in the world.

Our newest Late Nights at Blockbuster celebrates the 25th anniversary of The Wedding Singer. This was high on both of our Top 5 Sandler movies that we went through last year. There is plenty of discussion on music, Sandler and Barrymore trying to rekindle the magic displayed here, and Rosie almost stealing the movie despite being in three scenes.
