This is our first in-depth discussion of animated movie so we take a few detours on animated movies, especially Pixar, as a whole. Byers lays out an incredible case as to why he had this on his overrated list in our recent pod and why it might actually be the worst Pixar movie of the decade.

Troy took aim at Oscar winners and film nerds as a whole. We close out with our honorable mentions and hope that Byers hasn't set off a firestorm from which he can never recover.

Calvin returns to the show to discuss Andor. We’ve been looking forward to this one for a while as all of us enjoyed the show and the new experience that it brought to Star Wars television. We talk at length how it felt like an Expanded Universe (EU) novel alongside the different ways that people can and did watch the show and their reactions to it. We definitely geek out about the proper Star Wars language that should have been used in different places. We also spend the last little bit discussing what plot threads were left hanging that might be addressed in Season 2.

Late Nights at Blockbuster

“Once you are a parent, you are a ghost of your children’s future.” Our newest Late Nights at Blockbuster is the 2014 Christopher Nolan movie, Interstellar. This was high on both of our Christopher Nolan movie rankings that we did last summer. The movie is described by Byers as, “The first time watching it is 98% emotional gut punch while the other 2% is trying to figure out what is going on.” We discuss the Nolan effect and our experiences watching it for the first time. Our discourse always wound up returning to Coop watching the messages from his kids scene, with good reason. If you loved TARS, there is plenty here for you to enjoy.

Goofs: After further review, Troy cheated and his number 1 pick for TV did not debut in 2022. Troy was also wrong, despite his “seemingly” clarifier, on the Warriors barely getting into the playoffs. They were a 3 seed and went 53-29.

We discuss the new Lord of the Rings show on Amazon Prime. We remain spoiler free until the 26 minute mark. We talk the highs, the lows, and what we are looking forward to in the next season. Do dwarven really have beards or not? There are so many people involved in this show we couldn't even acknowledge all of the regulars. We were a little punchy so there might be a little too much middle school humor at the beginning of the episode.
