We discuss the new Lord of the Rings show on Amazon Prime. We remain spoiler free until the 26 minute mark. We talk the highs, the lows, and what we are looking forward to in the next season. Do dwarven really have beards or not? There are so many people involved in this show we couldn't even acknowledge all of the regulars. We were a little punchy so there might be a little too much middle school humor at the beginning of the episode.

We are celebrating the 10th Anniversary of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Hoot twice like a barn owl if you get into trouble!  We discuss the extended edition of the movie similar to our Lord of the Rings discussion. However, Byers asks if we can get a better edit of the movie rather than extended editions. We might be the only podcast to compare this movie to the Fast and the Furious franchise.

Goofs: Leonard Nimoy sang the song titled “The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins” but he wasn’t involved in the animated version of The Hobbit from 1977. The Company stays in Rivendell for a fortnight to be sure they are there for the moon runes.

Our newest Corner Booth at Rex’s is on Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever. We keep it spoiler-free up until the 21 minute mark. We run through our likes and dislikes along with the state of MCU phase 4.  

Goofs: It had been so long that we had a 8.5 that we forgot that 8.5 is Byers goes to Tucanos not 8 for the score. Byers is correct that we gave Spider-Man: No Way Home a 9.5 so nothing has been a 10 so far. We forgot to mention that this was the last movie of phase 4.

Our newest Deep Thoughts on Shallow Subjects is a Top 5 Ben Affleck roles. We also decided to throw in some discussion of Damon and Affleck’s career arcs and did a quick draft of their movies to determine who really has the deepest filmography. Be prepared to realize that The Phileo Podcast is the leading Daredevil apologist podcast. 

Goofs: The Jars of Clay album that Troy was thinking of was I Left the Zoo. Troy also doesn’t seem to know what Stockholm Syndrome means. A total of nine actors have played Batman while five actors have played Jack Ryan.

We celebrate the 25th anniversary of Good Will Hunting, a movie that is on both of our Top 5 all-time movies.  Naturally, we started quoting the movie to each other too early in favorite scenes instead of waiting for the Drax award. We go Kevin Costner in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves where the Boston accent goes in and out. Troy tries to hang on a little longer than Byers. We also discuss if this is Robin Williams best performance. 

Goofs: Byers makes us even older than we are by saying we were Will and Chuckie’s age when we first saw this movie but we were closer to 17 than 20 and 22. For the record. Troy was wrong Jimmy Flynn had two other acting credits in The Cider House Rules and What’s the Worst That Could Happen? The man from India that Sean and Lambeau discuss is Srinivasa Ramanujan.
